As with the previous race, the majority of the runners in this contest are unraced, but this time for 3yr old fillies. Of the raced entrants, FIREWORKS would appear to be the best. She was less than a length and a half behind the winner on debut after attracting some betting support. She would no doubt have come on with the run and could put her experience to good use. It is encouraging that Muzi Yeni retains the ride.

STATE STAR has consistent recent form to her name and has only run out of the first two, once in six starts over this trip. She battled all the way down to the wire in her last start over this distance and a repeat of that effort would make her the horse to beat here.

WORDYNESS was finishing off her last race well and has not finished too far back in her last three outings. She has a tendency to give away start at the jump which is a bit of a concern, but she should be picking off the frontrunners in the closing stages.

Jockey: W Kennedy  – Trainer: G Van Zyl

JUST CRUISED IN travels up from KZN and is the only runner on the day from the Gavin van Zyl yard. He will get stable jockey Warren Kennedy in the irons. The pacifiers get removed for today’s run. He was unlucky in his last outing where he was baulked for a run. Hopefully he is over his habit of giving away start at the off.
