FLAMING DUCHESS has shown good improvement with each outing. She made her stable debut for the Mike de Kock yard in her penultimate start and was slow into stride. She followed that up with her best run to date and made good late progress up the straight. She takes a step up to the ten furlong trip which should suit her well. Callan Murray steps aboard the daughter of Duke Of Marmalade and she can go close.

CAPTAIN FLYNT has produced two good runs since winning his maiden over 1160m. He challenged strongly last time, but Waqaas fought back well to get up and win. It is encouraging that S’manga Khumalo jumps back aboard this son of Captain Al for today’s race. He tries the nine furlongs for the first time and if seeing out the distance, he could get back to winning ways.

TROPIC SUN was very impressive when winning on debut over 1160m at Turffontein, seven weeks ago. It must be noted that the formline has worked out well. This daughter of Skitt Skizzle looks to have class about her and there definitely should be more to come. Raymond Danielson keeps the ride for Sean Tarry and this 3yr old filly can remain unbeaten.

BATTLE CREEK has shown good consistent form of late. He raced handy and stayed on well last time, finishing four lengths behind True Charm who runs in Race 7 on today’s card. He has a very good record over this distance with five wins, four seconds and two thirds from 19 outings. Chase Maujean knows this son of Antonius Pius well and the pair merit healthy respect in this line-up.

He needed his first run as a gelding in a strong field over a distance short of his best. This son of Capetown Noir takes a big drop in class this afternoon and on his peak run, should be cherry-ripe.
