The son of Duke Of Marmalade may be at his best over this distance at this stage of his career and back in Maiden Company, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

VIVA DE JANEIRO was a tad disappointing in his last start over 1450m on this course. His debut effort when third over 1000m at Turffontein was encouraging. The 1200m should be right up his alley. He meets the right field this afternoon and from his good draw of four, he should be the one to beat.

The daughter of Kingman tries the mile for the first time and should be cherry-ripe. She jumps from a good draw of three and in this field, she should be the one to beat.

Jockey: D Schwarz – Trainer: T Peter
SURYAVARMAN was ultra-impressive when winning his last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville. He set the pace, found another kick and won with a ton in hand. The tongue-tie seems to have done the trick and he may be hard to catch.

RIVER ROMEO showed some signs of a form return in his last start over this C&D. The son of Pomodoro takes a slight drop-in class today. He is drawn widest of all, but is likely to use his early gate speed to get across without using up too much energy. He may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.
