Top Bet
Race 1: REBEL’S DIAMOND(11)
Jockey: Andrew FORTUNE – Trainer: David NIEUWENHUIZEN

There are many unraced juvenile fillies in this opening maiden event and the betting market should be a good indicator. That said, there are some useful raced runners with quality form and they could easily dominate the outcome. REBEL’S DIAMOND flopped in a feature over further last time and her conditioner has wasted no time in reverting the daughter of Rebel King to the minimum distance. She had solid form over this distance prior to that and has huge claims in this class. Fortune knows the bay filly well and she is the only representative from her yard on this card.

Race 4: WINTER BREEZE(1)
Jockey: Piere STRYDOM – Trainer: Louis GOOSEN

WINTER BREEZE has come to form smartly recently and she could be the right one on her track debut from a good draw. She was outrun late over this distance last time and had the 3rd placed finisher SIM ALLEY BANK exactly two lengths adrift of her. The daughter of Mambo In Seattle gets the services of ‘Striker’ and merits healthy respect. The latter is lightly raced and is improving so will be a threat on her course debut.

Race 5: ELOQUENCE(3)
Jockey: Lyle HEWITSON – Trainer: Sean TARRY

The Sean Tarry stable is well-represented in this competitive fillies handicap sprint and their duo of ELOQUENCE and TAHINI could fight out an exciting finish. The former isn’t the stable elect but she will strip fitter after no doubt needing her comeback run and can return to winning ways. The daughter of Oracy had a great start to her career with back-to-back sprint wins in KZN but suffered a major setback a little while later and was out of action for just under one year. She has lots of class about her and could still prove to be better than rated.four-year-oldr old bay filly is well drawn and she gets a 2.5kgs apprentice allowance.

Race 9: GREY’S A ROCKIN(1)

Jockey: S’manga KHUMALO – Trainer: Sean TARRY

GREY’S A ROCKIN has improved back on the grass recently and he stayed on for a good 2nd over shorter, four weeks ago. That earned him a four-pound penalty but the Tarry inmate is clearly best on the turf and he still has much more to offer. Furthermore, he stays well and should be a major force over this trip.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 7: ZEN MASTER(5)
Jockey: Gunter WROGEMANN – Trainer: Lucky HOUDALAKIS

ZEN MASTER is lightly raced and his eye-catching maiden win suggests that he could be above-average. The Var gelding was drawn widest on the tight circuit at Turffontein but produced a strong finish to get up close to home over six furlongs. He might have just needed the outing so will strip much fitter and though he takes on stronger on his handicap debut, the three-year-old gelding clearly has more to offer. He should relish this extra distance and jumps from a good draw this time around. Furthermore, he will love this long run.
