Nonetheless, that first outing would have brought him on appreciably and he should make natural improvement back over this c & d. The bay colt now gets the expert services of in-form jockey Piere Strydom.

CHAPATI still just needed her last effort when tiring late but the lightly raced four-year-old will be cherry-ripe today and can bounce back to her best form. She could enjoy a soft lead in this small field and of course, her career-best effort came over this distance.

Jockey: Andrew FORTUNE – Trainer: Gary ALEXANDER
The top class KANGAROO JACK is reunited with brilliant veteran jockey Andrew Fortune and the pair could stake a huge claim here despite a very hefty mass. He was always going to find the mile beyond him at the highest level last time but his impressive turn of foot stands him in good stead in his first run over the minimum trip. The son of Querari tired late when 4th behind subsequent Grade 1 winner Rafeef over seven furlongs in his penultimate outing and should show his class here.

SECRET STAR has enjoyed a great year during which she has achieved three victories from five outings, including a smashing last triumph over dual subsequent winner Favour’s Pride. That last effort came at a cost of a five-pound penalty and she meets the 3rd placed runner SHIVERING SEA on 3.5kgs worse terms but the daughter of Pathfork still has plenty more to offer and she should again take a power of beating.

The three-year-old DROMEDARIS was always going to feel the effects of his exertions in his comeback run when he flopped badly a mere four weeks later. The bay gelding is much better than his form suggests yet he continues to drop significantly in the merit ratings. He had an eye-catching comeback run over this c & d and has the measure of the older sorts GOLD STATUS and SLEEPINSEATTLE on that performance. He gets fitted with blinkers on his peak showing today and could be great value despite a hefty mass. His jockey is having a good run.
