The Hollywoodbets Swallows secured a victory over the Abe Midas Naka Bulls on Saturday the 30th of March 2019. They travelled from Mdantsane to Pretoria this past weekend for their SSG Gold Cup quarter-final clash where they ran out as 13-10 victors. Overall it was an intensely close fought battle with a great fighting spirit being shown by both teams.
The Hollywoodbets Swallows opened the scoring with a try 15 minutes into the game. However, a few minutes later, an intercept pass brought the home side into the lead 7-5.
A penalty early on in the second half took the Naka Bulls to 10-5, but courtesy of persistent attacks from the Mdantsane team the score was eventually levelled at 10-10 with 30 minutes left to play.
Then, with just over 10 minutes to go, a penalty from the 10-metre line was slotted by the Hollywoodbets Swallows kicker, taking the score to 13-10 in favour of the team!
This was the final score as the Hollywoodbets Swallows managed to hold off the attacking Bulls, kicking the ball into touch, to the delight of their visiting supporters.
The Hollywoodbets Swallows president Zuko Matyeshana is proud of his players.

“We’re currently preparing to go on to the semi-finals in Cape Town on the weekend where we’ll be facing the 2017 champions. This will be the first time that we’re playing against them and we know they’re strong side, but we’re ready to go out there and demolish the opposition!” said Matyeshana.
There was an incredible show of support for the Mdantsane team throughout the game, with their own Gwijo squad chanting and singing throughout all 80 minutes.
The Hollywoodbets Swallows will travel to Cape Town this coming weekend to take on Durbanville-Bellville. The venue is Durbell Rugby Club at 1 Sportsway, Durbanville, Cape Town. All are encourage to come down and show their support for community rugby!
