Pitso Mosimane has revealed that despite his criticisms of Kaizer Chiefs over the years, he actually grew up supporting the Soweto club.

The 55-year-old former Bafana and SuperSport coach played for a number of clubs throughout his career.

After starting out at Jomo Cosmos, Mosimane also turned out for Sundowns and Orlando Pirates in South Africa, as well as playing in Greece and Qatar.

As he reflects on life while stuck at home during the coronavirus, Mosimane explained the reason for his past comments about Chiefs despite a long-held loyalty.

He told IOL: “I grew up supporting Kaizer Chiefs by the way. People don’t know that. I don’t hate Kaizer Chiefs, but they are my competition. It is nothing personal.

“I know a lot of people don’t like some of the things I say about them (Chiefs), but we are rivals in the league. I also talked about Orlando Pirates in the same way when we were competing for the league for the past two seasons. Not that I hated them. It is competition, nothing personal.”

Chiefs and Sundowns are battling it out for the PSL title this season with Sundowns four points adrift of Chiefs ad having played a game less.
