Following a disastrous run of form in recent weeks for Chiefs this season, critics and fans alike understandably often use a microscope to scrutinise every incident that happens at the Glamour Boys.

Recently, some players such as Brandon Petersen have been criticised after the goalkeeper was captured by SuperSport TV cameras appearing to be involved in a heated exchange with Johnson after a 3-2 derby defeat to Orlando Pirates in the DStv Premiership.

Petersen and others have also been accused of undermining Johnson appearing to be seen “coaching” the team from the sidelines.

“Look, it’s football. It’s passion and there are displays on the bench (with players) wanting to give out information,” Solomons told media at the Kaizer Chiefs village recently.

“People are saying we are coaches, but we are trying to help. If you are not trying to help someone then what’s the use?

“I mean you can’t just be sitting on the bench and keep quiet, that’s not just who I am.

“I’m very vocal, I’m someone that wants to help,” he said before assuring that they still believe in Johnson’s leadership.

“The confidence in the coach has always been there, it might not look like it, and it might not feel like it but we know what the coach wants from us.

“There’s just those small things that we need to fix and hopefully it will come out this weekend.”

The 10th-placed Chiefs are preparing to host equally struggling SuperSport United in a league match at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Saturday at 17:30.

Amakhosi will be aiming to end their five-match winless streak in the league when they take on Gavin Hunt’s men who are on a winless run of nine matches.
