Orlando Pirates are currently competing in the Confederations Cup where they have progressed to the Group Stage, along with Marumo Gallants.

Mamelodi Sundowns and AmaZulu are both going strong in the CAF Champions League, and have also progressed to the next round.

Reflecting on Bucs’ narrow 1-0 aggregate scoreline over Congolese side Diables Noirs, where Happy Jele netted the only goal over two legs, Ncikazi explained the importance of the win.

He said on KickOff: “It is a good sign for South African football because one can only be proud to be South African that from Marumo Gallants, AmaZulu, Pirates now and (Mamelodi) Sundowns (have gone through).

“It is good for South African football and if this is the direction that our football is taking it gives comfort but mainly I am happy that Pirates is through to the next phase.

“This is African football and if you don’t score you will have problems. I’m just happy that the team could go into the next phase.”

Pirates are next in action in the league against an in-form Royal AM on Thursday.
