After winning their Second preliminary round qualifier 4-1, the DStv Premiership side followed that up with a 1-1 draw at the Stade Des Martyrs on Sunday.

They become the second South African team to enter the group stages after SuperSport United progressed with a 4-1 aggregate win over Gaborone United

Saint Eloi were quickest out of the blocks on home soil and won an early penalty in the 19th minute that was converted by Manu Bola.

The home team pressed for a second goal but Sekhukhune defended doggedly.

It remained an uphill battle for Steve Barker’s side as Lupopo bossed the possession.

But instead of finding the all-important goal needed to send them through, it was Sekhukhune next on the scoresheet as Tiklas Thutlwa fired home on the hour mark.

And Sekhukhune were able to thwart the relentless attacks of the home team to ultimately secure their place in the group stage of the continental competition.
