The Absa Premiership returns with some exciting matchups lined up. Kaizer Chiefs will welcome former coach Stuart Baxter when they host SuperSport United in Cape Town. Mamelodi Sundowns face Golden Arrows – the last team to beat the Brazilians in the League in September last year. Orlando Pirates will face a daunting battle with Mpumalanga Black Aces on Sunday, while Platinum Stars will look to extend their unbeaten run to six matches when they host Jomo Cosmos.

There’s money to be made in the PSL this weekend and I’m confident I’ve picked a couple winners.

Saturday 27 February

Jomo Cosmos 16/10 | Draw 23/10 | SuperSport United 16/10
Jomo Sono’s side suffered a 1-0 defeat away to Platinum Stars last Sunday, courtesy of Mduduzi Nyanda’s goal. Ezenkosi maintained their position of 14th, but will be disappointed at missing out on the chance to put further distance between themselves and the relegation zone. Their opponents, SuperSport, suffered a 2-1 defeat away to Kaizer Chiefs last weekend. Amakhosi attacker William Twala struck home with one minute of regulation time remaining following goals from George Maluleka and Jeremy Brockie for either side. Matsatsantsa have now lost two, drawn one and won just a single game since Stuart Baxter’s appointment. These sides have drawn three of their last four meetings and are tipped to cancel each other out.

University of Pretoria 18/10  | Draw 2/1 | Chippa United 15/10
The University of Pretoria come off a 2-1 loss away to Bidvest Wits, courtesy of a brace from Thulani Hlatshwayo. That was a third straight defeat for AmaTuks who remain winless in five matches now. Shaun Bartlett’s side have looked better at home, winning two of their last four games at Tuks Stadium, losing just once to Orlando Pirates. Chippa United come into the match with three successive wins, keeping three clean sheets. They beat Jomo Cosmos, Bloem Celtic and Free State Stars and will be looking to extend their winning streak here. Chippa United won the reverse tie 4-0 in Port Elizabeth. The away win is tipped confidently.

Orlando Pirates 12/10 | Draw 2/1 | Bloem Celtic 24/10
For a while on Sunday, it looked as though the fans behind the Orlando Pirates bench were waiting for the final whistle to have a go at Eric Tinkler for failing to win another match. But substitute Tendai Ndoro, a bit part player for most of this season, saved the day with a brace in the last 20 minutes to give the Buccaneers a well deserved 3-1 victory over Black Aces. Prior to that result, Pirates suffered back-to-back losses against Sundowns and Free State Stars. Tinkler will be hoping to build on that performance against Bloem Celtic on Saturday. Phunya Sele Sele are winless in four matches with consecutive losses against Chippa United and bottom-placed Maritzburg United. Pirates are tipped to bounce back strongly with a much-needed victory.

Sunday 28 February

Golden Arrows 5/2 | Draw 21/10 | Platinum Stars 11/100
Golden Arrows did extremely well to hold Sundowns to a goalless draw at the Lucas Moripe Stadium last weekend. Before that result, they beat Polokwane City 2-1 away from home and Clinton Larsen will be hoping for another positive result. Their away form is a major concern having lost three in a row at Chatsworth Stadium. Their opponents, Platinum Stars, are unbeaten in six matches having won four times. Dikwena know that victory will move them to fourth place on the table with just a point behind third-place Kaizer Chiefs. Platinum Stars won the reverse fixture 2-0 at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium and I’m tipping to complete the double.
