Having already sealed the DStv Premiership title and a place in the Nedbank Cup final, Sundowns were still 24 matches unbeaten in the league before the encounter and are aiming to become the first ‘invincible’ champions in South African top-flight football.

It was an eventful first half with Sundowns carving out the best goal-scoring opportunity when Matias Esquivel blasted his effort over after a cutback.

Lucas Ribeiro Costa found himself one-on-one with goalkeeper Ismail Watenga but the Ugandan shot-stopper did well to parry the shot wide.

Despite being a man down, Sundowns still dominated the contest with Watenga making exceptional saves to deny Marcelo Allende and substitute Junior Mendieta.

Arrows were dangerous on the counter-attack in the closing stages but some last-ditch defending from the visitors meant that game finished goalless.

Sundowns now have five league matches remaining to maintain their unbeaten run while Arrows sit 10th in the standings, a point away from the top-eight positions.
