Vilakazi recently signed a long-term contract with the Glamour Boys until 2028, and made his third senior appearance in the recent match against Richards Bay FC.

Despite the team’s 1-0 defeat, Johnson was pleased with Vilakazi’s performance, highlighting his potential.

“I think he did a lot. I think he made the fans happy,” Johnson said.

“But at the same time, we need to give him a little bit more time to settle in on the field with Kaizer Chiefs.”

Johnson acknowledged the challenges Vilakazi faces in transitioning to the senior level but expressed confidence in his abilities.

“I thought in a lot of moments you saw him, he was happy,” Johnson added.

“But I’m sure he’ll come to the party a lot better as the season goes on and as he spends more and more time with the Kaizer Chiefs first team.”

With an upcoming clash against SuperSport United on Saturday, Vilakazi will have another opportunity to showcase his talent.

Amakhosi will be aiming to improve on their underwhelming 10th position in the standings to end the season on a high with four matches remaining.

Kick-off is at 17:30.
