Stellenbosch release seven players

The Winelands have already confirmed the signing of former Baroka FC goalkeeper, Oscarine Masuluke ahead of the new season.

Reid Bombay, Keegan Pool, Solomon Letsoenyo, Solly Khunyedi, Lance Weaver, Juan Carlos Ortiz and Glen Hahn will all leave the club following the expiry of their contracts.

Venezuelan striker Ortíz arrived at the club during the 2022 January transfer window and scored twice in his first five league appearances for the club, before being curtailed by a knee injury on the final day of the 2021/22 campaign.

Letsoenyo (25) made his debut as a late substitute in the 3-0 Cape Derby win over Cape Town City in March 2021, and went on to make 21 appearances for the senior team across all competitions.

Pirates to announce Otladisa in coming days?

Otladisa sparkled for Bahlabane Ba Ntwa in the now concluded season as they went on a fairy-tale run in continental football.

Of course, things didn’t go as planned on the domestic scene as they were relegated on the final day of the season after losing 2-0 to Swallows at Dobsonville Stadium at the weekend.

The drop to the second tier of Mzansi football meant that Gallants chairman Abram Sello had to resign himself to losing most of his top players to topflight clubs.

This mainly includes star man Katlego Otladisa, who has been on the radar of at least four clubs – with a year left on his contract with the Limpopo side.

Otladisa’s contract only comes to an end this June month end, but there has been increasing talk that the Buccaneers could once again make a move to try and secure the services of the playmaker.

SuperSport monitoring out-of-favour Cole Alexander

33-year-old Cole Alexander made just seven appearances in all competitions under Arthur Zwane last season. Having signed a three-year contract with Chiefs in 2021, Alexander still has one year left on his deal with Chiefs which expires in June 2024.

However, with his situation at the club unlikely to improve, a move away could be on the cards for the experienced midfielder. Also, with the Soweto giants looking to drop their age average and Hunt’s love for experience, a move to SuperSport could be perfect for all parties.

City land Congo youth international Ramazani Tshimanga

The Citizens enjoyed an impressive end to the season with three wins and a draw to snatch fourth place ahead of Kaizer Chiefs and confirmed one of their first signings for the new season in Midfielder Tshegofatso Nyama who they signed from TS Galaxy two weeks ago.

Tinkler seems to have shifted to the 3-4-3 formation, meaning that the need for a new centre-back is something he was well-aware of and the Citizens have addressed it by completing the towering DR Congo youth international Ramazani Tshimanga from Jeunesse Sportive Groupe Bazano on a long-term deal.

The 21-year-old had been invited by the Cape Town side for a trial and was offered a contract after impressing Tinkler and his coaching staff. He joins fellow Congolese international, Nathan Idumba Fasika on City’s books.

Pirates and Sundowns to battle it out for Kimvuidi

Karim Kimvuidi has impressed since joining Maritzburg in July. He has played 32 Matches in all competitions, including 29 DSTV Premiership games. He missed one league match all season – impressive.

The 21-year-old Maritzburg United star is attracting plenty of interest, but it now seems that the race for his signature has come down to Orlando Pirates or the champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

Free agent – Jali linked to Matsatsanta

Following his departure from Sundowns Andile jail has been linked with a number of clubs in Mzansi and abroad. The midfielder stopped training with the Brazilians amid allegations of arriving at training while under the influence of alcohol.

Now, Gavin Hunt’s SuperSport United have joined Kaizer Chiefs, Cape Town City, Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu in the race to sign the experienced player.

With SuperSport preparing to return to the Caf Confederation Cup next season, a player boasting Jali’s experience and abilities would be important in their continental campaign. Already, Matsatsantsa have a squad mixed with experience and young blood which Jali would fit in perfectly, having not yet shown any signs of tired legs.
