Abha, who are second from the bottom of the money-spinning Saudi Pro League table, defeated 10-man Al-Wehda by 1-0 on Thursday.

Ziyad Al-Sahafi proved the matchwinner after scoring the decisive goal at the Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Stadium in Abha.

While the victory hasn’t moved Mosimane’s side completely away from danger, it has boosted their chances of their survival.

The win took Abha to 21 points after 24 matches in the 18-team league and are level on points with the 16th-placed Al-Tai and two points behind the 15th-placed Al-Riyadh.

However, both Al-Tai and Riyadh have one game in hand.

To avoid the chop from the top tier, Mosimane will need to make sure that the club end the season at least in position 15.

The South African coach joined the club in January after signing a short-term contract that will lapse at the end of the season.

The three-time CAF Champions League-winning coach has managed two wins, a draw and incurred two losses.

In his first stint as a coach in Saudi Arabia, Mosiname enjoyed massive success after he took over a then-struggling Al-Ahli Saudi, led them to the Yelo League title and promoted the club to the top tier.

Mosimane still has 10 games to try and save the club from spending next season campaigning in the Yelo League.
