However, Mosimane’s focus is the task at hand, and that is to save Abha from plummeting into Saudi Arabia’s second tier.

Mosimane is left with seven Saudi Professional League games this season, and after a 2-1 win at home to Al Fateh earlier this month, Abha side got a major boost in their quest to stay in the premium division.

Unlike the summit of the log where the Aleksandar Mitrovic-led Al Hilal are cruising with 77 points – a comfortable 12 points away from second-placed Al Nassr – matters at the bottom of the table are more complex and complicated.

After recovering from the 8-0 drubbing by Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr, Mosimane bounced back with a 2-1 win against Al Feteh and is now in search of a second successive win.

Abha have so far collected 25 points, with just a whisker between them and fellow relegation candidates Al Taee, and Al Akhdoud, who have 23 and 24 points respectively.

Al Riyadh are level with Mosimane’s side and they face Al Taee on Friday, where Mosimane and his team will hope for a draw to minimize the movement of teams around them.

Mosimane’s track record in Saudi Arabia speaks for itself as he engineered Al Ahli SC’s promotion back into the Pro League before he was dismissed at the end of the 2022/23 season.

Ahli now sits third on the log and Mosimane will go up against his former employers in the third last game of the season on May 16.

Meanwhile, Mosimane is grieving the passing of his elder brother, Daniel Khoza, and this might be an extra motivation for his team to up their performance to uplift the former Mamelodi Sundowns coach.
