Race 6: COBY(1)
Magic Tips Best Bets
Race 1: LE TIGRE(6)
Jockey: Sherman BROWN – Trainer: Leon ERASMUS
Just 4 of the 13 juveniles on display have raced before but their experience could count for plenty and LE TIGRE gets the nod to go one better. The speedy bay colt fought hard when he was beaten a neck into 2nd over this c & d by a highly rated newcomer, two weeks ago. He has faced considerably stronger during his short career and holds strong claims in this line-up.
Top Bet
Race 4: HIGH DRAMA(9)
Jockey: Richard FOURIE – Trainer: Joe SOMA
HIGH DRAMA was recently rewarded for consistency as he impressed with two smart back-to-back wins on his favourite track, the inside course at Turffontein. Still, the Trippi gelding is improving and he had one good experience on this track. Furthermore, the blinkers have certainly done the trick for the four-year-old who may have escaped with just a three-pound penalty for that last win. He should handle this rise in class and could complete the hat-trick with his handy galloping mass.
Race 5: WILD HORIZON(4)
Jockey: Weichong MARWING – Trainer: Sean TARRY
WILD HORIZON has shown vast improvement since the long break and he produced a quality finish to win his maiden going away over a mile on this course, five weeks ago. That was just his third career start and the son of Fort Wood has plenty more to offer. His pedigree suggests that he should relish this rise in ground and the Tarry inmate could be much higher than rated.
Race 7: WHITELINE FEVER(1)
Jockey: Karl ZECHNER – Trainer: Sean TARRY
Just eight runners go to post for the day’s topliner over seven furlongs but it still promises to be a very exciting and intriguing affair. The veteran campaigner WHITELINE FEVER has achieved plenty during his successful career and though he has struggled at the highest level for some time now, he takes a huge drop in class and should go very close. He won his only c & d effort.
VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:
Race 8: WILD BRIER(5)
Jockey: Raymond DANIELSON – Trainer: Candice DAWSON
WILD BRIER is way better than his recent record suggests and he makes his debut for a new yard. The three-year-old colt has shown promise from day one and he was an impressive maiden winner over this c & d, second time out. He fell short in subsequent feature outings but has dropped significantly in the merit ratings and still has good scope for improvement. The son of Ideal World can cause a major upset on his most successful track.
