International Racing: Deauville – Thursday 21 May 2020

International Racing: Saint Cloud – Tuesday 19 May 2020

Racing heads to Deauville on Thursday for an exciting ten-race programme. The meeting includes a Listed Race for three-year old fillies over fourteen furlongs. The best bet on the card is HIGH DREAM in Race 6. His recent form is good and he gets the services of Pierre-Charles Boudot. He does not meet the strongest line-up and should take a power of beating.

The first race on
the programme is for unraced two-year olds over the minimum trip. The betting
market will be the best guide with regards to the chances of the runners. CHERIE AMOUR is a daughter of Shalaa from the Andre Fabre stable with Mickael
Barzalona in the saddle. She cost her owners EUR € 250,000. If not too green, she may be the one
they all have to beat. SIR MAURICE is a son of Gutaifan from the Andrea
Marcialis yard and Maxime Guyon is the pilot. He could be the first male past
the finishing post. SIX PENNIES is the stable companion of the second
selection. She is a daughter of Penny’s Picnic with Pierre-Charles Boudot in
the saddle. She must be included in all bets.

The main event on
the afternoon is a Fillies and Mares Listed Race over 2800m. THINK OF ME was an impressive winner of a Class 2 Handicap over eleven furlongs at
Fontainebleau last time. She does take on stronger today, but she is lightly
raced and looks to have ability. The daughter of So You Think should have no
issues with the rise in distance and with Pierre-Charles Boudot retaining the
ride, she should be the one they all have to beat. MUETTE was not disgraced
with finishing fourth over 3000m at Longchamp in a Group 2 event last time. She
has no stamina issues as she won her maiden race over 2900m. The daughter of
Deep Impact takes a drop-in class this afternoon and merits healthy respect
with Maxime Guyon in the saddle. LUCKY
LYCRA
was disappointing in her last
start in Group 2 company, but was an impressive winner of her penultimate
outing over this distance in a Listed Race. She returns from a seven-month
break, which may have done her the world of good. If fit and well, she should
be right there in the run down to the wire.
Race 3 – PRIX DE VERNEUIL
JAMILYA was touched off on debut when finishing
second over a mile on the all-weather surface at Chantilly. She returns from a
two-month break this afternoon, during which time she would have strengthened
up. Stephane Pasquier retains the ride and with the natural improvement that is
expected, she has a good chance of going one better here. CRUSH ON ME produced a promising debut effort when finishing 0.2 lengths behind the
top selection in the race referred to above. As the pair meet on the same
weight terms this afternoon, she may find it difficult to over turn the form.
However, she is drawn in pole position this afternoon and cannot be ignored. MOASA’S last two starts have been good, the latest of which was over this
distance. She returns from a six-month break today, during which time she would
have strengthened up. Mickael Barzalona steps back into the saddle and the
combination merit obvious inclusion.
Race 4 – PRIX DE VIROFLAY
This is an open
Maiden Plate for the boys as many horses have a good chance of winning. The
narrow first selection is TALAP who has his first run in France after
beginning his career in the United Kingdom. He was touched off in his last two
starts in October last year. He returns from a six-month break, during which
time he would have strengthened up. Christophe Soumillon rides the son of
Kingman on his course debut and if suited to the track, he should be rewarded
for consistency today. CIVIL LAW produced two good runs when finishing third
before given a lengthy eight-month break. He would have got stronger during his
time off the racetrack and should be right there in the run down to the wire,
if fit and well. AMOUR EN POEME made the expected natural improvement to
finish second over seven furlongs on this course last time. The manner in which
he finished off the race that day suggests he will enjoy the step up to the
mile. Maxime Guyon is back in the irons this afternoon and the combination must
be included in all bets.
ZAVERNA is the value bet on
this afternoon’s card. She produced a very good comeback run when finishing
fourth over this distance at Strasbourg last time. She has finished third once
from two starts at Longchamp. The daughter of Excelebration should strip a much
fitter horse today and may be the one they all have to beat. SUR MA VIE has good consistent form lines to her credit. She loves racing over this
distance with a record of one win, one second and one third-place finish from
four attempts. She makes her course debut this afternoon and if suited to the
track, she should be the one to throw out the biggest challenge to the top
selection. ROCK OR BUST has not finished too far off the winner in
recent outings on the all-weather surface. The transfer back to the turf should
not pose an issue as he has won once, finishing second three times and third
four times from twenty-four runs on this surface. With a bit of luck from his
wide barrier position, he should be right there in the run down to the wire.
HIGH DREAM is the best bet on today’s programme. He has
good consistent form lines to his name. He has won twice from five starts at
Longchamp and won once from five attempts over this distance. The son of
Zanzibari returns from a seven-month break today, but it is encouraging that he
gets the services of top jockey Pierre-Charles Boudot. He doesn’t meet the
strongest opposition here and should take a power of beating. MONARGENT got back to winning ways in his last start over this distance at
Cagnes-Sur-Mer on the all-weather surface. He has won once, finished second
once and third once from eight attempts over this trip. Maxime Guyon does duty
from a good barrier position and the combination should be one of the leading
contenders for the placings.
ALLEZ HENRI
produced a very good
comeback run when finishing third over this distance at Saint Cloud last time.
He has won four times, finished second twice and third five times from 33
attempts over this trip. He should strip a much fitter horse today and with
Aurelien Lemaitre in the saddle, he should be involved in the fight out to the
finish.
BANOUSH produced a very good comeback run when
finishing fourth over this distance at Saint Cloud, just over a week ago. His
record when having his second run after a rest is decent having finished second
twice from three starts. Mickael Barzalona steps into the saddle this afternoon
and he may be able to notch that little bit extra out of the son of Mizzen Mist
where it matters most. SHAMSABAD produced good consistent form before given a
short 2-month break, which may have been what he needed. He has finished third
once from two starts on this course. Alexis Badel retains the ride aboard the
son of Rock Of Gibraltar and if fit and well, the combination should be right
there in the run down to the wire. HEIR
TO A THRONE
has not finished too
far off the winner in recent outings. He is a versatile sort as he likes to
race on both the turf and all-weather surface. Maxime Guyon knows him well and
from his handy barrier position, he should be right there in the run down to
the wire.
AARHUS’ last start can be completely ignored as he
was disqualified. He produced a very good run in his penultimate start when
finishing third over this distance at Angers. The son of Bated Breath gets the
services of Pierre-Charles Boudot today and if not in need of the run, he
should be the one they all have to beat. ABBELLO is lightly raced
having had just the three runs to date. He has not finished too far off the
winner in each of those outings. He makes his turf debut this afternoon and if
suited to the surface, should pose a threat to the top choice. It is
encouraging that Christophe Soumillon takes the ride aboard the son of Lawman. IMBLEVILLE has shown good improvement in his last two outings. He should come into
this contest as one of the fitter horses and with Maxime Guyon in the saddle,
must be included in all bets. His handy draw of five is a big plus on this
track.
Race 9 – PRIX DE BEAUBOURG
ZORPEN’S last three starts over 2500m on the
all-weather surface have been decent. He should have no issues with the return
to the turf as he has won on this surface in the past. Jockey Eddy Hardouin
knows the son of Orpen well and if continuing his good run of form, he should
get rewarded for consistency today.
BAY OF GIBRALTAR’S
last outing
before given a lengthy 10-month break was good. He likes racing over this
distance with a record of one second-place finish and four thirds from six
attempts. It is encouraging that jockey Mickael Barzalona does duty on his
return and if not in need of the run, should be the one to pick up the pieces
should the top selection fluff his lines. IMAGO JASIUS’ last start
over 2100m at Cholet was fair. His penultimate run when finishing under a
length behind the winner over this distance caught the eye. He does have a wide
draw to contend with today, but he gets the services of Maxime Guyon who will
give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
Race 10 – PRIX DES MIRAMIONES
The last race is a
weak Class 3 Handicap and caution is advised. The narrow first selection is MERCI MERCI who has not finished too far off the winner in her recent form under
today’s 1.5kg claiming apprentice. She has finished second twice and third once
from five attempts over this distance. She jumps from a handy draw this
afternoon and if not in need of the run, may be the one they all have to beat. MISS RAFAEL got back to winning ways in her last start over ten furlongs at
Fontainebleau. She should come into this contest as one of the fitter horses
and from pole position, may be the one to throw out the biggest challenge to
the top selection. ROSE IN MARCH is slowly showing signs of returning to best
form. She has won once from five attempts over this distance. If not in need of
this outing and with Alexis Badel in the saddle, she should be involved in the
fight out to the finish.
