The Spies/Yeni combination could be at it again here and CHAROCK represents the pair. The former PE resident had a most exciting first run on the Highveld two weeks ago. He showed blistering pace before he was pegged back late by a well-supported runner but will strip much fitter now and could enjoy racing on this fast track. The drop to the minimum trip should suit him well and the bay gelding could take some beating.
Race 3: GROZNY(1)
Jockey: F HERHOLDT – Trainer: W G C MILLER
The Antarctica c & d formline on 30/05 could hold up well in this opening leg of the place accumulator and GROZNY gets the nod from the best draw. The former Cape resident had an eye-catching local debut when she ran on well for 3rd, beaten just over two lengths in the event referred to above, despite jumping slowly and overracing. She was also returning from a 16-week absence so will strip fitter and can build on that progress.
Race 7: SONGOFFIREANDICE(3)
Jockey: G WROGEMANN – Trainer: P SMITH
SONGOFFIREANDICE has shown promise over the minimum trip in this province but he is capable over further. He proved that when only tiring late into 4th over a mile on Greyville’s polytrack prior to relocating and this trip could be ideal for the son of Mullins Bay who drops significantly in class. He races from a midfield draw and in-form jockey Wrogemann takes the ride.

Jockey: M THACKERAY – Trainer: S MILLER
DOCTOROW is a consistent Trippi gelding who posted a decent first attempt in this province over the c & d, three weeks ago. He stayed on for 3rd after being drawn badly in that three-year-old contest and that effort would have brought him on considerably. The Stephanie Miller inmate takes a huge rise in class today but he could have a bright local future and certainly has plenty more to offer. His merit rating indicates his arduous task at hand but he has a handy galloping mass and commands lots of respect.

OPAH LATINO showed a welcome return to form when he led throughout to hold on for victory over this c & d, five weeks ago. He was handed the minimum two-pound penalty but jumps from a much better draw this time around and can again be competitive over an ideal trip. The four-year-old gelding is once again the mount of champion apprentice elect Callan Murray.
