Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 3: LEE’S PICK(5)
Jockey: Muzi YENI – Trainer: Brian WIID

LEE’S PICK is another Gauteng raider who represents the Yeni/Wiid combination on this card and this chestnut gelding can build on his much improved last run on the Highveld. He overraced from his wide draw but still made steady progress for 4th in a competitive line-up over nine furlongs. The lightly raced Philanthropist gelding should continue to improve over the mile and he is aided by pole position on his local debut. He has his peak showing.

Race 4: HEPTAGON(4)
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH – Trainer: GK ANTHONY

HEPTAGON
is in great form and today’s rise to the mile could reward him to his consistency. He challenged strongly after racing wide over shorter on this surface last time out and can go one better with his top jockey retaining the ride. The pair jump from a midfield barrier position.

TOP BET
Race 5: ASTROMAN(5)
Jockey: Muzi YENI – Trainer: Frank ROBINSON

It could pay to follow the progress of Heptagon in the prior event as the top selection here, ASTROMAN was given a great ride when getting the better of the former over seven furlongs on this course, eight days ago. This chestnut gelding seems to have escaped with just a three pound penalty for his troubles and he could have another huge say at the same level today. He could also enjoy this slight drop in trip and is once again drawn well.

Race 6: WYNKELDER(7)

Jockey: Anthony DELPECH – Trainer: Tony RIVALLAND

WYNKELDER is a smart three-year-old gelding who was hardly disgraced at level weights with his older conqueror over seven furlongs on his first venture around the turn, recently. It comes as no surprise that his top jockey has kept faith with the progressive son of Kahal who was an impressive debut winner over six furlongs prior to that. Of course the chestnut will be severely tested on his polytrack debut in strong company today but he still has huge scope for improvement and is clearly worth following. He has drawn really well at gate 2.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 1: OSPREY(7)

Jockey: Anthony DELPECH – Trainer: Dennis DRIER

The well-related OSPREY was quietly fancied when she made late headway on her fair debut over six furlongs on the grass in soft conditions, three weeks ago. She should have plenty more to offer today and the step-up in distance will suit the daughter of Silvano who is drawn well at her first attempt around the turn.
