CRIMSON KING is the best bet on this afternoon’s card. He produced a decent debut effort over seven furlongs on this course. The manner in which he ran on up the straight that day was encouraging. The son of Dynasty would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should be the one they all have to beat. He does have a wide draw to contend with today, but he gets the services of Warren Kennedy and will get all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

Jockey: Domeyer A – Trainer: Fortune A
WINTER SMOKE found plenty of betting support when winning on debut with ease. She showed a lot of speed that day and won a lot easier than the official margin suggests. She does take on a lot stronger this afternoon, but the manner in which she won on debut suggests that she could be something special. Aldo Domeyer takes the ride and the combination should take a power of beating.
Race 6: AL MUTHANA (14)
Jockey: Murray C – Trainer: De Kock M
AL MUTHANA was a comfortable winner on debut over 1160m at Turffontein. Despite losing a length at the start, he showed good pace and drew off to win with a ton in hand. The son of Deep Field meets a stronger line-up today, but he looks to have a lot of ability and may be up to the task at hand.

Jockey: Marcus A – Trainer: Crawford B
RUN FOX RUN got back to winning ways in her comeback run over the minimum trip at Kenilworth last time. She pounced on the lead at the 200m mark that day and kept all challengers at bay. The daughter of Foxwedge would have come on from that outing and should have plenty more to offer. If all went well with her travels, she should notch up her 7th career victory.

SAN VERDE is the value bet on today’s card. He was in need of his last start over nine furlongs on the polytrack. His penultimate effort when finishing 3rd over 2200m catches the eye. The son of Gimmethegreenlight will enjoy the rise in distance today and should strip a much fitter horse. It is encouraging that Anton Marcus keeps faith in the ride this afternoon.
