THE VOW was running on well in her second start when trying this distance and it is encouraging that stable jockey Richard Fourie has kept faith in the ride. They jump from a handy draw and if she shows further improvement from that last run where she raced green, she looks to be the one to side with in this contest.

Race 5: KATHLEEN (3)
Jockey: M Winnaar – Trainer: G Kotzen

KATHLEEN took a bump in her last outing over this distance but was running on well in the closing stages to finish a creditable fourth, just 0.9L behind the winner. She set the pace in her previous races and should use her early gate speed to get across from her wide draw.

Race 6: JACQUELINE (4)
Jockey: S Veale – Trainer: D Drier

JACQUELINE was cramped at a vital stage of her last outing and should have finished closer than she eventually did. That was her first start this season in CT and she will be looking to make a bold showing here. She gets her regular stable jockey Sean Veale in the saddle.

CROISETTE won well on debut over this c&d and will be looking for the double here. Her KZN trainer has a good record with bringing his unraced stock down to CT for the summer season. She started odds on that day and had obviously been well-tried at home.

Race 7: HILDEGARDE (4)
Jockey: A Marcus – Trainer: B Crawford

HILDEGARDE has consistent formlines to her credit and all three of her wins to date have been posted over this minimum trip. Surprisingly, the blinkers are removed for today’s run, but if this doesn’t have an adverse effect on her performance, she should be the one that they all have to beat.
