International Racing: Compiegne – Thursday 11 June 2020

A thrilling and competitive ten-race programme is scheduled for Compiegne on Thursday with good to soft underfoot conditions predicted.

The best bet is SHAMSABAD in Race 7. He narrowly failed last time out to just be pipped at the wire, and he can definitely make amends for that with Soumillon in the irons this afternoon.

Jockeys Ride Horses

Race 1
The American bred TELEMAQUE had only had the one start when runner-up over six furlongs. He tries the mile trip today and if staying the extra, looks the one to beat in the opener. JULIUSJULIUSSON needed that last effort at Chantilly and if recapturing his prior form then he will pose a threat to the top selection. TALAP has placed in all four starts to date and with Soumillon in the saddle, he should run into the placed again.

Race 2
SKALETTO has a 4kgs claiming apprentice aboard which brings him right into this contest and shoulders only 2kgs more than in his last outing when he put six and a half lengths between himself and the runner-up. KATDAR is another one who won recently and he has a 4kgs apprentice in the saddle. He is drawn best of all this afternoon. THE CHOSEN ONE has disappointed in both of his starts after a break but it is encouraging that Guyon retains the ride and he must not be ignored in this contest.

Race 3
The British bred GELLHORN finished runner-up on debut behind Beaute Pour Toi and it is encouraging that Badel has retained the mount on the daughter of Showcasing. BARBARIE showed promise on debut and with Soumillon in the saddle, she looks like a serious threat to the top selection. BINTANA made her debut in slow going and may possibly be forgiven for being beaten by thirteen lengths. She should finish much closer with Guyon riding.

Race 4
NARCOS had good form before the layoff and it would be no surprise to see him continue that run of form, with Soumillon retaining the ride. AKYO has placed in his last two starts and on form looks the sole threat to the top selection. The Irish bred MOVING ON is coming along positively and he was only beaten by a length in his last start at Vichy. He will benefit from a 4kgs apprentice allowance, which brings him right into this contest.

Race 5
HIGH DREAM impressed in his comeback effort when dispatching Khochenko by just under a length but will come on tons from that effort. HEIR TO A THRONE has placed in all three starts and looks well placed in this event with Guyon in the saddle. TABULARASA has been consistent after his poor debut and can run into the places again.

Race 6
MY LOVELY ONE was beaten three lengths at the wire last time out but she will strip much fitter this afternoon and now gets Guyon in the irons. The grey ALCAMA DOLOISE won in dominant fashion last time out at Longchamp and she looks to be over her previous issues. RIQUET shoulders a low weight and has placed in all three starts this season. He will benefit from a 1.5kgs apprentice allowance in this handicap.

Race 7
SHAMSABAD has finished runner-up in his last three starts and he should be rewarded for his ultra-consistency this afternoon. He was only beaten by a head last time out and from the best barrier, he will take a power of beating in this contest. WETROV was only beaten a length last time out at Marseille and from a neat draw, he looks like a massive danger to the top selection. KOURKAR shoulders a much more suitable mass this afternoon and can run into the places of this handicap.

Race 8
SMART COOKIE placed last time out at Lyon-Parilly over this distance and she jumps from the best gate this afternoon. She has her third run after a rest and doesn’t meet the strongest of rivals in this contest. SIR GEORGE possibly needed that last outing when well beaten and it is encouraging that Guyon retains the ride. He will finish much closer and could go close to winning this contest. MISS SPRINGSTEEN gets a 4kgs apprentice which brings her right into this contest at the weights and she can run into the places.

Race 9
FAVROS impressed last time out when fighting gamely to the finish and he will have no stamina worries over this type of distance. Demuro takes the ride and the pair should be difficult to peg back in the closing stages. UCHRONIQUE just got up to win his comeback effort on rain-affected going and he should be just as strong a force on good to soft underfoot conditions. TETE RAIDE didn’t disgrace himself in his return to racing when only beaten just under three lengths by Escapade Nocturne and he can run into the places of this contest.

Race 10
NORWEIGAN LORD is the value bet on the card. He narrowly defeated Horse Boreal last time at Dieppe and with a 1.5kgs claiming apprentice aboard, he may be able to make it back-to-back triumphs in the lucky last of the day. DANDY RIVER finished runner-up last time out under Piccone and the pair are the biggest threat to the top selection. BONNET BRETON will have no stamina issues over this type of distance and he wasn’t beaten far by Favros last time out. He can run into the places of this contest.
End.
