International Racing: Friday 1 May 2020 – Sunshine Coast

International Racing: Thursday 30 April 2020 – Cairns

7 tricky races will get the best out of punters at Sunshine Coast on Friday and it looks a tough card from start to finish. THE GOLDEN HIND lands the tag of best bet on the card, as well as the Jackpot Banker. He ran on like a train in his last start and will enjoy the extra this time. PARIS CRYSTAL should be worth following for a bit of value in the 6th race, but see more about their chances and others here.

Race 1 – 09:15 –
1000m – 2-Year Old Maiden Plate
Selections: 12 – 15 –
13 – 4 – 5
A tricky race kicks of proceedings here and the narrow first
selection goes to KHANJAR. The
daughter of Sepoy gave a solid account of herself on debut back in January,
under Robbie Fradd and she will be looking to follow that up with a win here.
She trialled impressively earlier in April without being extended and with the
scope for improvement, she should go very close this time. THE ACTUARY followed up
that modest debut towards the end of last year with a smart trial recently.
With the expected improvement to come, the daughter of Sebring must be
included. ONE SHY RUBY and MASTER RED both have their debuts here,
but on what they have shown in trials so far, they could go into contention
first up.

Race 2 – 09:45 – 1000m
– 3-Year Old BM65 Handicap
Selections:  4 – 8 – 9 – 1 – 2
Fillies look to dominate the 2nd race on the
programme. CLEVER MISS clearly
needed her comeback run in her penultimate start and she bounced back to form
with a smart victory last time out. Sitting outside the leading line she shot
clear over the final furlong to win impressively and with three wins under the
belt from her ten outings so far, she has the credentials to overhaul this
relatively inexperienced field. ISA
ROCKET
has her first run back after a rest, with her last competitive
outing coming all the way back in September last year. She has followed that up
with two goo trials and if not too in need of this run, she should challenge
the top selection. SHEEZASINGA has
found some good consistent form since returning to racing this year, with two
solid performances since that comeback trial. She has already won from two
attempts over this trip and with scope for improvement, she must be included.

Race 3 – 10:15 – 1000m
– BM60 Handicap
Selections: 3 – 1 – 8
– 7 – 2
TRU BLU TANGO
gave a solid account of himself when returning to racing last time out. He led
early and gave a great site before being chased down in the final stages to
finish 3rd. That was over this course and distance, taking his
record over this trip to three wins and two places from six attempts. The son
of Top Echelon will strip fitter here and with Bayliss retaining the ride, he
will be one of the leading contenders. LEROYTHECONQUEROR
returns to racing for his first start this year and the son of Love Conquers All
will be looking to build on that impressive record over this trip. He had
excuses in his last start over slightly further when the vet found him to be
lame in his near fore, but if over those issues he should bounce back here. He
has featured prominently in two previous first up attempts and as such, he
cannot be discounted.

Race 4 – 10:45 –
1400m – BM55 Handicap
Selections: 1 – 3 – 5
– 9 – 7
THE GOLDEN HIND
caught the eye last time out when making up many lengths from back in the field
to finish 6th just 1,6-lengths off the winner. That was over the
1200m and on that effort he is going to relish this step up in trip, having won
his only attempt over the 1400m. Boris Thornton retains the ride and they
should be tough to beat. KING ALFONSO
has been thereabouts in his last three starts at this course. His latest effort
happened to be over this course and distance, in Class 1 company and a repeat
of that run should bring him right into contention. FEARLESS QUEEN won her last start over the 1200m, when coming from
off the pace to put her nose down at the right time. That was in slightly
stronger company and with Dale Smith retaining the ride, she must be
considered.
Race 5 – 11:15 –
1200m – Class 1 Handicap
Selections: 3 – 5 – 2
– 6 – 10
MUSICMAKER seems
to have returned to racing having relished her time off towards the end of last
year and she has put up two good performances since. Having won her last start
with a fair amount of authority, she returns to the same trip and with scope
for improvement the daughter of All Too Hard should be a major contender here. POETIC COICE hasn’t quite made the
impression his connections would’ve hoped for in his last two starts, but the
3-year old now gets a 3kg claim off his back which will certainly bring him
right into the equation. EFFORT
should improve further to feature here, having put up a huge effort to fly home
late for second after being so far back in the running. With the scope for
improvement after just 4 runs under his belt, he must be considered.

Race 6 – 11:45 –
1800m – BM55 Handicap
Selections: 10 – 2 –
6 – 4 – 3
PARIS CRYSTAL has
come from the clouds to finish respectably in her last two starts and one gets
the impression that the step up in trip should suit her here. Drawn well, she
has her peak run and lands the tag of the value bet on the card. COACH has found some good form in his
last two starts and the 4-year old son of Denman was rather impressive in his
last start, when running on strongly late. He gets the 3kg claiming Sheriden
Tomlinson to do duty this time and if building on his current form, deserves
plenty of respect. Both of FILTERS
and GALVARINO have scope and must be
included in a relatively wide-open race.

Race 7 – 12:15 –
1800m – Maiden Plate

Selections: 4 – 9 –
10 – 5 – 14
Back to maiden plate level to close off proceedings and it’s
NEMINGAH who looks the likeliest of
taking the lions share of the prize money here. The New Zealand bred son of Nom
du Jeu sat behind the speed and narrowly failed in his last start over 1515m
and he is certainly going to relish stepping back up to this trip. He has
featured over the 1800m before and with this being his peak run back after a
rest, he should leave the maidens this time. JERRY ZANDA ran on nicely in his latest effort over further, having
settled behind the leaders early on. The firmer going definitely suited on that
occasion and if finding similar conditions over this trip, he should be right
there at the business end. VALIDAR
is yet to find the places in his 6 outings so far, but he showed dramatic
improvement when stepping up to the 1640m last time out and if seeing out this
trip, he should be involved in the finish.
