Racing takes place on the all-weather surface on Wednesday. Racing looks competitive, but there seems to be one or two stand out bets on the card.

Sunday was a fantastic day for Joao Moreira as he booted home five winners at Sha Tin on the turf. He has regained the lead on the Jockeys Championship table and is now two winners in front of Zac Purton. The best bet on tonight’s card is RIGHTEOUS DOCTRINE in Race 7. He was an impressive winner of his last start and has a good chance of following up under the in-form Moreira.

Race 1 
AURORA STEED showed good signs of a form return in his last start when dropping back to this class. He didn’t have much luck in running that day as he had to check at the 750m mark and was hampered at the 500m mark. He has his first run on the all-weather track tonight and if suited to the surface, he should take a power of beating. Joao Moreira steps back into the saddle. GENERAL TRUMP is in good form. He didn’t get off to the best of starts last time, but the manner in which he stayed on at the finish was encouraging. He too is having his first run on the surface and if Karis Teetan is able to overcome his wide draw, he should pose a threat to the top selection. GRAND HARBOUR has been racing in stronger company. He takes a drop-in class and he has proven that he is suited to this surface. If the apprentice can overcome his wide barrier position, he may be the one to cause the upset. CORRE RAPIDO showed some signs of a form return last time. He gets the services of a claiming apprentice and if confirming his recent improvement, he should be right there in the run down to the wire.

Race 2
SHIMMER AND SHINE enjoyed returning to race on this surface in his last start. Despite not getting the best of breaks and battling to find running room at the 250m mark, he stayed on well to finish just a half a length behind the winner. Neil Callan keeps the ride aboard the son of Showcasing and the pair can go one better tonight. HANDSOME REBEL has been racing in stronger company. He had no luck in running on the grass last time, but if repeating his penultimate run when finishing third over this course and distance, he should be right there in the run down to the finishing post. GRACIOUS RYDER’S last run was decent. He was running on well at the finish that day. Jumping from his mid-field barrier position, he should be one of the leading contenders for the placings. LITTLE THUNDER is much better than his recent form suggests. He is making his all-weather track debut tonight and if suited to the surface, could be one for the placings.

Race 3
CURLING LUXURY is the value bet on tonight’s card. His recent form has been moderate, but he has been racing against stronger opposition. Four of his six career victories have come over this distance and with Zac Purton doing duty for the first time, he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most. KA YING BRILLIANCE didn’t enjoy racing on the turf last time. His three runs on this surface prior to that effort were solid. Joao Moreira rides from a good barrier position and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces. HIDDEN SPIRIT just won his last start over this course and distance. He rallied late and got up where it matters most. Neil Callan retains the ride and the pair cannot be ignored. GOOD FIT never got into the race over nine furlongs last time. He takes a drop-in class tonight and if repeating his penultimate effort, he should earn a cheque.

Race 4
EXCEL DELIGHT has good recent formlines to his credit. He raced from a handy position in his last start over this course and distance and kept on well at the business end. Joao Moreira retains the ride from a good barrier position and the pair may find themselves in the winner’s enclosure. GOLDIE FLANKER showed some signs of a form return in his last start despite excuses at the 200m mark. It is encouraging that Karis Teetan steps back into the saddle as he has won once and finished second once from four starts. If confirming his recent improvement, he may pose a threat to the top selection. VIVA COUNCIL did not shape on the turf track last time. He won his penultimate start over this course and distance. If repeating that effort tonight, he should be right there in the run down to the wire. He is drawn in pole position which is an added advantage. DAILY BEAUTY is a lightly raced son of All American. He showed some improvement when racing on this surface for the first time in his last start. He has a positive draw and there may be more to come under Blake Shinn.

Race 5
JADE FORTUNE has fair recent form to his credit. He should have finished closer in his last start, but was crowded at the start and had to check at the 600m mark. The son of Showcasing takes a drop-in class this afternoon. He does have a wide barrier position to contend with, but he gets the services of Zac Purton who will give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle. SUPER RED DRAGON has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. He was hampered at the 800m last time, but the manner in which he rallied up the straight was encouraging. Karis Teetan rides from a good draw and the pair should throw out the biggest challenge to the top selection. THIS ONE’S FOR YOU’S recent form has been fair. He runs well on this surface with a record of a win, two seconds and two third-place finishes from ten outings. Vincent Ho does duty once again and the pair cannot be ignored in this line-up. KING’S RACE has decent recent form to his name. He moved up well last time but was caught very late in the race. Matthew Poon knows him well and the pair should be able to earn another cheque.

Race 6
This is an open race and caution is advised. The narrow first selection goes to UTOPIA LIFE who has Chad Schofield in the saddle. He has been racing on the turf track in his last three starts, but is showing signs of returning to form. Schofield has ridden this son of Wicked Style three times and finished second on all three occasions. The pair should go close to winning tonight. FLYING GENIUS is a lightly raced son of All Too Hard. He moved up like a winner in his last start, but was caught in the last 50m. He is well drawn this evening and could pose the biggest threat to the top choice. JUST NOT LISTENING is slowly coming back to best form. He raced from a handy position last time and stayed on well at the business end of affairs. Joao Moreira rides from pole position and he is likely to make the son of Star Witness race on the speed once again. WIND N GRASS has placed in his last two starts at Happy Valley over this distance. He tries the all-weather surface for the first time and if suited to the track, he should be right there in the run down to the wire.

Race 7 
RIGHTEOUS DOCTRINE is the best bet on tonight’s card. The manner in which he rallied to win his last start over this course and distance was impressive. He jumps from pole position once again and if repeating that last effort, he should notch up his fifth career victory. RED ELYSEES has not finished too far behind the winner in recent form. He finished 0.75 lengths behind the top selection in his penultimate start. As the pair meet on the same weight terms tonight, he may have to settle for the same result here. MORE THAN A HORSE’S last three efforts have been decent. He finished his last race on the turf off strongly and if suited to the all-weather surface, he should be right there in the run down to the wire. VOLPINO is much better than his last start suggests. He produced good form prior to that effort and on best form shown, could run into the minor money.

Race 8
BUDDIES is one of the better bets on tonight’s programme. He likes to set the pace in his races. He stayed on well when finishing second in his last start. He is yet to be unplaced on this surface, with three wins, two seconds and a third-place finish from as many outings. Joao Moreira rides for the first time and from his positive draw of three, he may have his own way in front and may be hard to peg back in the closing stages. GLORIOUS ARTIST’S last three runs have been poor, but those were on the turf. All four of his wins in Hong Kong have come on this surface and with Zac Purton in the saddle, he cannot be ignored. KINGS SHIELD did not shape on the turf in his last two starts. He won his only attempt on this track, three runs ago and if repeating that effort, should be right there in the run down to the finishing post. ELITE PATCH has been his own worst enemy in recent outings as he has given away start. He is much better than his recent form suggests and if jumping on terms, he could be the one to cause the upset.
