Race 2.
With the four late scratchings here, more than half of the field will be making their debut and the winner may well come from one of the unraced entrants, none of whom have had a barrier trial. The betting market may be the best guide as to their chances. Of the raced runners, MISS BOSETTI may be the best. She has her first run after a 15-week rest, but she finished just over three lengths behind the winner on debut over 1100M. AMY’S PRIDE was 6.6L adrift when having her first run over five furlongs. LA MEXICANA makes her debut and starts from draw 7. AKAHAI is another first timer who jumps from gate four.

Race 3.
BAILARIN finished second on debut over six furlongs, but she would have learnt from the experience and with the natural improvement that can be expected, she should be one of the leading contenders here. MISS HAYWORTH has consistent formlines to her credit but has a very wide draw to overcome. She does however like to race up with the pace and could use her early gate speed to come across without using up too much energy. BUTTERCUP BABY on the other hand has cracked pole position. She returns from a 20 week break and drops back from seven furlongs, but she should be involved in the finish today. SO YOU BEAUTY has her first start after a 23 week rest and no barrier trial, but on prior form, she is not without a chance in this line-up.

Race 4.
TYCOON THUNDER showed the expected improvement second time out when stepping up to 1100M. If he has continued along that same path, he looks to be the value in the race jumping from gate four. EXACT REPLICA is a 3yr old filly taking on the boys. She was just a length behind the winner last time out over seven furlongs, but the drop down in trip should not be an issue. BELLOWS is seldom far behind the winner and should put in another honest performance today. SPACE COWBOY returns from a 17 week break and without a barrier trial. His last two efforts have been solid and despite having a wide draw to negotiate, he should be considered here.

Race 5.
With the late scratching of the original favourite, the door may be opened for SHEPARD to record his fourth career victory. He has his first start for his new trainer and steps up in distance, but he does look the one that they all have to beat. WHEAL LEISURE is a 6yr old mare taking on males and takes a step up in trip. If taking to the extra ground, she could threaten the former. BUDD FOX missed out on his hat-trick last time out over twelve furlongs and will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways here. ARTY LUCAS looks like a minor place is the best that he can hope for.

Race 6.
Two late scratchings have thrown this race wide open and some caution is advised. ELUDING won over this distance on debut and is now drawn in gate five. He would have come on from the outing and although taking on stronger here, he may well be up to the task on hand. LOE recorded his maiden win last time out over six furlongs, but he won going away that day suggesting that the step up in distance will be to his liking. LA VOLT has a wide draw to deal with, but he raced up with the pace last time out over a mile and then fought on well in the closing stages. He is sure to enjoy the drop in distance here. SANGRIA MISS is a 4yr old filly taking on males, but she has a go at completing her hat-trick today and jumping from a mid-field draw, she is not without a chance of achieving the trio.

Race 7.
This looks like another tricky event. The narrow first pick goes to AREE AL who was slightly disappointing last time out when stepping up to 1700M. He drops back in trip which should be to his liking and has secured gate two. MELARITA is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys, but she put over four lengths between herself and the balance of the field when winning her maiden race last time out over 1500M. The extra ground should not present an issue. ISOLA COMACINA is a 3yr old filly who has consistent formlines to her name. she won her maiden event over a mile last time out and although taking on stronger here, she should be included in all bets. ALPHAVILLE has a wide draw to contend with, but he won his maiden race last time out over seven furlongs going away from the opposition and should be doing his best work late once again.

Race 8.
EUGENE’S FOREST has his hat-trick attempt here after winning well last time out over 1700M. The drop in distance should not present a problem and the trio is a distinct possibility. RESERVE STREET will be aided by having 2kg taken off his back courtesy of his claiming apprentice. He could represent the biggest threat to the top choice. NO SAY IN IT has his first run since a 25 week break. He drops back from nine furlongs and may do better as a result. GRAVISTAS returns from a lengthy 48 week break and has his first outing in Australia. He has not had the benefit of a barrier trial and the betting may be the best guide as to his chances.

Race 9.
Another open race brings the curtain down on today’s program. ZOUSHACK returns from an 18-week rest, but he is seldom far off the winner and a repeat of his penultimate effort over this distance would see him right up there in the mix. LA BELLA COSTA is a 4yr old filly taking on males, but she drops down to six furlongs after missing out on her hat-trick last time out over seven furlongs. She has a wideish draw to deal with, but she will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways today. TOOLBAR had a fair run last time out over five furlongs, but looking at his penultimate effort over six furlongs, he may prefer today’s distance. HEAVENWARD was just 0.6L behind the victor last time out over 1100M and whilst he has a wide draw to beat, he does possess early gate speed to get him across without using up too much energy.
