Neil Morrice: International Racing – Wednesday 16 December 2020

Neil Morrice Best Bets & Tips

Neil Morrice brings us all of his best bets and tips for Wednesday’s racing taking place at Newbury, Ludlow, Kempton Park and Lingfield Park

NEWBURY

Race 1 No5 KENTUCKY HARDBOOT (Each WAy)

Trainer: Mohamed Moubarak – Jockey: Jack Quinlan

The flashy KENTUCKY HARDBOOT has looked a better horse since
going hurdling, and represents the value against likely market leader
Overpriced Mixer. There was just half a length in it when the pair clashed at
Kempton, and while the selection was easily put in his place by Glory And
Honour at Huntingdon, he has a good shot at turning round the earlier form.

Race 2 No8 LECALE’S ARTICLE

Trainer: Nicky Henderson – Jockey: Nico de Boinville

Henderson is normally lethal at this pre-Christmas meeting
at his local course, with LECALE’S ARTICLE looking his best bet on the card.
The Malinas gelding was hugely impressive in his only run in a point, and
though returning from a colossal lay off is strongly fancied to endorse the
promise of some sparkling homework at Seven Barrows.

Race 5 No8 THE BOMBER LISTON (Nap)

Trainer: Nicky Henderson – Jockey: Aidan Coleman

While THE BOMBER LISTEN has been expensive to follow in
bumpers, getting turned over at 11-8 at Ffos Las and 4-7 at Catterick, he
remains a horse with considerable potential and can now be seen in a different
light switched to hurdles. The gelded son of Yeats will be happier on this
galloping track, and has schooled well.

LUDLOW

Race 3 No1 GETAWEAPON

Trainer: Kim Bailey – Jockey: David Bass

In what looks on paper a competitive mares’ novices’ hurdle,
GETAWEAPON can step lively for a stable that excels with this type of
individual. The daughter of Getaway has shone in both outings under Rules,
chasing home the useful Seealotmorebusiness at Ffos Las and then smoothly
delivering on debut over jumps at Hereford. The penalised selection can see off
Misty Whisky and Go Chique in what seems a strictly three-cornered affair.

Race 5 No1 EARLOFTHECOTSWOLDS (Nap)

Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies – Jockey: Sam Twiston-Davies

This is a tightly-compressed handicap chase in which
EARLOFTHECOTSWOLDS has the balance and brawn to successfully concede weight to
his foes. The Market Rasen specialist signalled with a near miss in a better
race at Ascot last month that he’s ready to deliver.

Race 6 No5 VALADOM

Trainer: Richard Hobson – Jockey: Miss A Jackson-fennel

VALADOM has a magnetic look about him on this first hurdles
outing for exactly two years. The veteran took out a conditional jockeys’ chase
at Newcastle last month to make it a second win in only five outings in 2020.
That selective campaigning can be rewarded with further success at the main
expense of the unexposed Docte Dina.

KEMPTON PARK

Race 1 No6 TOUCHWOOD

Trainer: Charlie Hills – Jockey: Joe Fanning

Invincible Spirit colt TOUCHWOOD has improved from race to
race, and after failing be inches to match Caribbean Sunset at Lingfield can
now go one better stretching out to a more favourable seven furlongs.

Race 3 No1 BEATING ALL

Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute – Jockey: Hollie Doyle

The US pedigree of BEATING ALL takes the eye in a race where
the form of those that have already run doesn’t look up to much. The son of
Triple Crown winner American Pharoah has shown promise in his readying work in
Newmarket, and gets an eye taking jockey booking on debut.

Race 9 No5 CASA LOUPI (Nap)

Trainer: Gary Moore – Jockey: Shane Kelly

CASA LOUPI is in a good place to notch a deserved first
career triumph in the nightcap. He’s shaved the crossbar at Yarmouth and Chelmsford
when showing improvement for the addition of cheek pieces. He will be hard to
beat getting a lot of weight from his rivals.

LINGFIELD PARK

Race 2 No5 POSSIBLE MAN (Each Way)

Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute – Jockey: Ryan Moore

On what could be a rewarding day for this stable, POSSIBLE
MAN takes the eye as a value bet, as he’ll be a lot more streetwise than when
finishing down the field on debut at Kempton. The son of Le Havre is beautifully
drawn to get an early position and should get into the shake-up.

Race 4 No12 UNDER WRAPS

Trainer: John Gosden – Jockey: Rab Havlin

A daughter of Kingman out of the Group 1 winner Confidential
Lady, UNDER WRAPS didn’t know much on introduction at Lingfield when easy to
back. Her midfield finish is there to be stepped up on, as she wasn’t given a
hard time. She’s not been handed the best of draws, but if getting out and into
a stalking position, she can earn.

Race 5 No3 DEGREE (Nap)

Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute – Jockey: Ryan Moore

In the same Cheveley Park Stud silks, attention is drawn to
debutant DEGREE in this second division of the novice stakes. The daughter of
Dubawi and Group 1 winner Echelon can shake off her lack of experience under man
of the moment Moore to make an immediate impression on the way to better
things.
