Newcastle Best Bets

Race 2: ASTRACAD (5) – 4/1
Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies
Jockey: Sam Twiston-Davies

Although not the force of old ASTRACAD has to fortitude to raise his game against mainly younger rivals in a race where he looks to hold a favourite’s chance. He’s managed to hit the board on each of his three completed starts this season including a solid enough run at Huntingdon last time. But this track will suit him better, as will the step up in trip.

Race 3: TIM ROCCO (7) 9/4
Trainer: Oliver Greenall
Jockey: Ross Turner

Fresh from a confident winning ride at Doncaster last week TIM ROCCO can strike while the iron’s hot. He came from well off the pace that day but when making his move quickly put the contest to bed to score going away. He jumped and travelled well, and still looks ahead of the handicapper with his jockey’s 7lb claim a real plus to his chances.

Wolverhampton Best Bet

Race 3: PINK FLAMINGO (11) 33/10
Trainer: Mark Johnston
Jockey: Joe Fanning

Johnston couldn’t have picked a better draw himself for confirmed pacesetter PINK FLAMINGO who is in the mood to wire this 1000 metres dash. From stall 4 the blinkered Nap can soon assume command and if showing the same resilience at the business end as when lifting an identical contest at Lingfield last month will be hard to beat.

Exeter Best Bet

Race 5: PINK GIN (12) (10/1)
Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies
Jockey: Mark Grant

Veteran PINK GIN makes plenty of appeal getting weight from his rivals after marking time when the ground was against him through February. The 11-year-old runs for an ownership managed by former trainer Jim Old who has welcomed the recent rain making underfoot conditions ideal for this exuberant jumper and galloper.

Exeter Value Bet

Race 6: PINE WARBLER (2) (9/2)
Trainer: Stuart Edmunds
Jockey: Cieren Gethings

Travelled and jumped best for much of the race when narrowly failing to score on his seasonal debut at Uttoxeter. Freshened up subsequently, PINE WARBLER is another who must have some cut in the ground. Consistency is a watchword of this old-fashioned chasing type who can again be competitive and get into the shake-up.
