Winning Form Punters’ Challenge Tips: Hollywoodbets Greyville – 1 February 2021

Winning Form share all of their tips and picks for the Monday meeting taking place at Hollywoodbets Greyville. Remember, there is a MASSIVE R1 200 000 up for grabs if you can tip the whole card!

Race 1

The opening event looks an open one and caution must be taken. The narrow first selection is the filly in the race, DUCHESSOFCORNWALL from the MJ Odendaal yard. She is a speedy daughter of Duke Of Marmalade with some decent form to her credit. She was not disgraced when finishing fourth over the minimum trip last time. Her best efforts have been when given a few weeks in between runs and she could give the males a run for their money. 

VINODH’S BOY was in need of his comeback run when returning from a lengthy 57-week break. His form prior to that outing was good. He should strip a much fitter horse and should the top choice fluff her lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces. 

LORD CARO’S last start can be ignored as he was reported to be not striding out. He had good consistent form prior to that outing and cannot be ignored. 

Race 2

This is a weak Maiden Plate for the girls and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is SPICY HOT from the Andre Nel yard. She ran a fair race in her comeback run over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. She was slow into stride that day, but stayed on at the business end. The daughter of Twice Over should enjoy the extra furlong on offer today and should strip a much fitter horse. 

WAVE CREST showed very good improvement in her last start with the tongue-tie fitted. It Must Be Love has come out and finished third since. If repeating that effort, she should give the top choice a run for her money. 

POLYNIECES is the stable companion of the top choice. She has produced two moderate runs to date. She returns from a 29-week break today, which may have done her the world of good. If not in need of the run, she can improve to earn a cheque in this field. 

Race 3

FLYING PETER is the best bet on the card. He is lightly raced with decent form to his credit. The manner in which he finishes off his races suggests he will be at home over the mile. He jumps from a mid-field barrier position and should get it right today. 

MR PIGALLE ran a decent race in his stable debut last time. The son of Jay Peg stayed on nicely at the finish that day and will enjoy the extra 100m on offer. He should strip a much fitter horse and should be one of the leading contenders. 

MASTER GEORGE was his own worst enemy last time as he overraced in the early stages. It must be noted that the form of that race has worked out well. He has finished second three times and third once from six starts over this C&D. From pole position, he merits obvious inclusion. 

Race 4

A WHOLE NEW WORLD looked a winner in his last start, but was caught in the shadow of the post. The son of Ideal World meets a similar type of field this afternoon and if repeating that effort, he should go one better here. 

BRANDENBURG makes his stable debut for the Nathan Kotzen yard. He has some decent recent form against stronger opposition. He takes a drop in class today and if suited to the surface, he should run a big race. 

PERFECTLY PUTT finished 2.6 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. 

Race 5

TIGER TANK is one of the better bets on today’s card. He followed his maiden win up with a good third- place finish over this C&D. He set the pace that day and stayed on nicely in the run down to the line. He is likely to adopt the same tactics this afternoon and may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line. 

FIREONTHETRACK finished 1.1 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result. 

QUERARI’S COWBOY finished 3.1 lengths behind the top selection in the race referred to above. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today thanks to his claiming apprentice. He should finish closer with a bit of luck from his wide draw. 

Race 6

LESLIES PATHTOFAME won a good race in his last start despite having to switch at the 300m mark and he cast a shoe in running. He has won three times, finished second once and third once from seven starts over this C&D. He meets a similar type of field today and can follow up. 

PARKTOWN was his own worst enemy last time as he overraced in the early stages. He returns from a 19-week break and makes his local debut today. He has won once, finished second once and third once from five starts over this distance. If not in need of the run, he should be one of the leading contenders. 

THERAVADA’S last two starts have been good. The son of Mogok drops in distance today and will be staying on in the run down to the line. 

Race 7

PACIFIC WINTER was not disgraced when finishing third in a competitive field over the minimum trip at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He raced from just off the pace that day and stayed on at the business end. The son of What A Winter drops back in class today and from his good draw of two, he can get back to winning ways. 

TRANSONIC ran a good race when finishing third over 1400m on this course last time. He has won twice and finished second once from seven starts over this distance. He may be the one to throw out the biggest challenge to the top choice. 

CALGARY’S last start can be ignored as he was reported to be not striding out. He followed up his maiden win with a good second-place finish in PE. The 13-week break may have done him the world of good and if not in need of the run, he may be hard to peg back. 

Race 8

CAPRICCIO followed up her maiden win with two good efforts over a mile on this course. She challenged strongly all the way to the line last time, but was pipped by To The Max. Sean Veale retains the ride this afternoon and the combination can go one better here. 

RACHEL finished 2.8 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. 

NOBLE PRINCESS also comes out of the To The Max form line. She finished 2.3 lengths behind the top choice that day. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights and with a bit of luck from her wide draw, she should finish closer.
