Winning Form Punters’ Challenge Tips: Hollywoodbets Scottsville – 31 January 2021

Winning Form share all of their tips and picks for the Sunday meeting taking place at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. Remember, there is a MASSIVE R1 175 000 up for grabs if you can tip the whole card!

Race 1

Nine of the eleven runners in this contest are first-timers and the betting market will be the best guide with regards to their chances. WYLIE WONDER GIRL is an unraced daughter of Wylie Hall from the Yogas Govender stable with Billy Jacobson up. Her mother, Sabaha won at the first time of asking over 1200m and she went on to be a three-time winner. If not too green, she should get her career off to a positive start. 

IMBEJEJE is a daughter of Var from the Glen Kotzen yard and Sean Veale does duty. If not in need of this outing, she should give a good account of herself. 

ROCK ON PHILLY hails from the Gavin van Zyl stable and is a daughter of Philanthropist. Her mother, Rock On Baby was a three-time winner. Raymond Danielson takes the ride and she may be worth following. 

Race 2

MEGHAN showed good signs of a form return in her last start over this C&D under Billy Jacobson. She found one too good in the form of Princess Anastasia, but stayed on nicely at the business end. If repeating that effort today, she should go one better here. 

WHAT A SPLASH has finished fourth in both her efforts thus far. She showed good speed last time, but did not go on with her effort. The daughter of What A Winter gets the services of a 4kgs claiming apprentice which should help her chances. 

AUSTEN showed good improvement in her last start over this distance on the polytrack. The daughter of Vercingetorix makes her course debut today and if suited to the track, she should have more to come.

Race 3

ABBEY WOOD showed good improvement to finish second over a mile on the polytrack. The manner in which she finished off her race that day caught the eye. The daughter of Vercingetorix will enjoy the rise in distance. She looks to be a progressive type and may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

ANOTHER LOVE has shown good improvement in her last two starts after returning from a 20-week break. The manner in which she finishes off her races suggests she will enjoy the step up in distance. She jumps from a good draw and should pose a threat. 

SIMPLY COMPLICATED’S last two starts in KZN have been decent. It must be noted that the form of her last outing has been franked. Donovan Dillon takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

Race 4

H TWO O showed very good improvement in his last start over 1950m on this course. He was his own worst enemy that day as he overraced in the early stages, but still managed to stay on nicely at the business end. His brother, Out Of Your League won the Grade 1 SA Derby over this type of distance. If switching off early, he should be the one to beat. 

ELLIS ISLAND showed nice improvement to finish second over 1750m last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He should have no issues with the extra distance on offer and may have more to come. 

GREY LINNGARI is much better than his last start suggests. His effort when finishing second over this distance, three runs ago catches the eye. He jumps from pole position and will get the services of 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Kyle Strydom.

Race 5

This is an open-looking Merit Rated 73 Handicap and caution is advised. The narrow first selection is BHAKKA from the Darryl Moore stable. He showed good signs of a form return in his last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville. The son of Wylie Hall finished second in his only attempt on this course. He gets the cheek-pieces today and if the headgear has the desired effect, he should notch up his second career victory. 

LONG REIGN ran a fair race when finishing second in his last start over 1900m on the polytrack. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He has finished second once over this distance in the past and should be one of the leading contenders.

DREAM DESTINY finished 2.15 lengths the second choice last time. He lost two lengths at the start that day and was inconvenienced at the 300m mark. With a bit of luck in running, he should be involved in the fight to the finish. 

Race 6

PREFERENTIAL was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start over 1750m on this course. She took the lead at the 200m mark that day and fought hard all the way to the line. The drop in trip is a slight concern, but she is in a very good run of form and can notch up the hat-trick. 

MARY O was her own worst enemy last time as she overraced in the early stages and hung up the straight. She ran a good race when finishing second in her penultimate effort in the Grade 3 Flamboyant Stakes. If switching off early, she should give the top choice a run for her money. 

SILENT CRUSADE has some decent recent form to her credit over various distances. She was reported to be making an abnormal respiratory noise in her last start. She is held by the second choice on her penultimate effort, but cannot be ignored.

Race 7

STELLA ACT’S last two starts after returning from a 16-week break have been decent. She raced from a handy position last time and stayed on well at the finish. The daughter of Act Of War won her only attempt over this C&D. She is having her peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. 

SAV’S STAR is slowly returning to her best form. She ran a good race when finishing fourth over the minimum trip at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time. The manner in which she finished off her race that day caught the eye. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces. 

FLAMING LASS ran a good race when finishing second over this distance on the Polytrack. She moved up like a winner that day, but was caught in the shadow of the post. She should strip fitter today and merits healthy respect.

Race 8

DOUBLE ESPRESSO’S last two starts against stronger company have been decent. He has won twice, finished second once and third once from ten starts over this distance. He takes a drop in class and gets the services of a 1.5kgs claiming apprentice which should help his chances. The combination will be doing their best work at the finish. 

HEROIC DEED ran a decent race in his comeback run over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Greyville. The drop in trip will suit him well as he has won once and finished second once from three outings over this distance. He should strip much fitter today and cannot be ignored. 

HERECOMESTHERAIN followed up his maiden win with a good second-place finish over 1400m on the polytrack. He raced from a handy position that day, but was outrun in the latter stages. He may be better suited to this distance at this stage of his career and should run a good race. 

Race 9

CAPRIANA ran a fair race in her last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville. She returns from a 23-week break today, during which time she would have strengthened up. The form line of that race is strong with multiple horses coming out to win since. The daughter of Toreador does not meet the strongest field in this contest and if not in need of the run, she can shed her maiden tag. 

BLANCHETTA is much better than her last start over this C&D. Her penultimate effort when finishing second catches the eye. She gets the services of a 4kgs claiming apprentice today which should help her cause. 

GIMETHEPURPLELIGHT showed very good improvement in her last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville. She raced from a handy position that day and stayed on well. If confirming that effort today, she should be right there in the run down to the line.
