The chestnut colt raced wide from his poor draw that day but only tired late in a close finish, despite hanging in the closing stages. The son of Duke Of Marmalade should continue to improve and he could prefer today’s slight drop in distance. He now gets the services of top jockey Fayd’Herbe who should negotiate another awkward draw.

DURBAN BEACH went off at restricted odds when he tired late into 4th on his debut over 800m at Kenilworth near the turn of the year. He may have suffered a setback as his conditioner rested the bay gelding for 40 weeks since. However, the Snaith inmate was gelded during that time and could make serious improvement. He is obviously showing great work back home and his pole barrier position on his track debut is a definite plus.

This is another competitive maiden event featuring some well-bred three-year olds who could provide a thrilling finish. TAFFETY TART is well drawn on her first venture around the turn and the smartly bred daughter of Trippi has plenty more improvement in her. She wasn’t beaten far in both her six furlong sprints and she ran on again for 3rd, second time out. That run suggests that she is searching for further.

BIG ED is a top quality stayer in the making and he has continued his ultra-consistent form. He has probably needed both his comeback runs and will be cherry-ripe today. The classy entire’ has proven his worth over similar distances and he could take a power of beating. His experience on this track will be crucial.

SEA SPRAY has reached a competitive mark in her rating and she made big improvement over this c & d, two weeks ago. The daughter of King Of Kings found traffic issues but she stayed on for a decent 4th in a similar line-up. She is once again drawn well and should be competitive.
