ARCHILLES is improving with each outing and he was outrun very late by a Cape visitor over a mile on this course last month. His conditioner has wasted little time in dropping him slightly in distance and top jockey Marcus retains the ride on the Captain Al colt who still has more improvement to come. The pair jump from a fair barrier position and the top selection is his stable’s only representative on the card.
Race 3: PATH TO GLORY(4)
Jockey: Warren KENNEDY – Trainer: Gavin VAN ZYL
PATH TO GLORY may have some issues as she returns from yet another break but she is undoubtedly the form choice in this very ordinary maiden contest and should take some beating, if fit and well. The form of her last two starts has worked out very well.
Race 7: TOP FORM(2)
Jockey: Anton MARCUS – Trainer: Charles LAIRD
TOP FORM is gradually getting into that now and he possibly still just needed his last run when tiring late to finish 4th over this c & d in a much stronger line-up. He deservedly shoulders a hefty mass in this lesser company but will be cherry-ripe tonight and is the stable’s only representative on the night. The Charles Laird inmate is well drawn and top jockey Marcus retains the ride.
Race 8: ROY’S DANCER(4)
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH – Trainer: Kumaran NAIDOO
ROY’S DANCER is plagued with issues so naturally has an affinity for this forgiving surface and she will be cherry-ripe tonight. She skated clear of her maiden rivals to win her comeback attempt in her first try with blinkers and followed-up with a fair handicap debut performance recently. She has a few rivals to beat on that latest effort but appears most progressive and top jockey Delpech could make all the difference. The well-related filly is favourably drawn at gate 4.

DESERT SUNSET has continued his consistent post maiden form at similar levels and he may be rewarded in tonight’s highly competitive field. The Kahal gelding is c & d suited and his strong visiting jockey may be hard to peg back if allowed to dictate his terms. The chestnut gelding has proved effective with frontrunning tactics.
