Winning Form Best Bets

Race 4: TAEGAN’S JET(9)
Race 6: RED MOON AT NIGHT(2)
Race 7: BLING SWING(5)
Race 8: SOLDIER’S BRIDE(1)

Magic Tips Best Bets
Race 2: VENICE IN MAY(7)
Jockey: Warren KENNEDY – Trainer: Gareth VAN ZYL

VENICE IN MAY has a decent record and he ran on again for a well-beaten 3rd on this surface last time out. However, that effort clearly indicated that the son of Philanthropist is searching for more ground and his conditioner has obliged. The three-year-old bay colt has obvious room for further progress and he holds lively claims from a good draw.

TOP BET
Race 4: OLYMPIC POWER(3)
Jockey: Anton MARCUS – Trainer: Candice BASS-ROBINSON

The Cape visitor OLYMPIC POWER is bred to stay and he has shown good ability up to twelve and a half furlongs. He drew off impressively to win his last start over ten furlongs on the polytrack and has lots more to come at this level over today’s extra ground. The Bass-Robinson inmate can defy his five-pound penalty and he is equally effective on the grass.

Race 5: ARAMOUSE(4)

Jockey: Marco VAN RENSBURG
 – Trainer: Weiho MARWING

ARAMOUSE is a model of consistency and the switch to the grass track won’t hamper his chances. The Kahal gelding will be sharp over this minimum trip as he gets blinkers fitted for the first time and he can claim that deserved fourth career victory. His good draw is a major asset on this tight circuit. Interestingly, just three of the ten entrants in this field have track experience.

Race 7: BLING SWING(5)
Jockey: Diego DE GOUVEIA – Trainer: Paul LAFFERTY

BLING SWING is above-average and he showed decent improvement despite facing winners in a minor feature on the grass second time out. He has the nasty tendency to jump slowly but was making steady progress when finishing just out of the money behind some highly rated sorts over this distance at Scottsville that day. The Mambo In Seattle colt attracted some outside betting support on that occasion, indicating that he could be held in high regard by his stable and he should continue to progress with experience. He is drawn best of all on his track debut and should take a power of beating back in maiden company. The slight worry is that he can’t afford to concede too much ground at the start.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 6: RED MOON AT NIGHT(2)

Jockey: Anthony DELPECH – Trainer: Dean KANNEMEYER

This is another tricky contest where the recent polytrack meeting between LUNAR RUSH, RED MOON AT NIGHT and SCHOOL RUN could be the formline to follow. The trio were close-up in a blanket finish that day with Marcus’ mount, LUNAR RUSH beaten a short head into 2nd by Victory Takeover. She had the latter pairing just a head behind her that day but will be fitter and has already captured a minor feature on this track. The Duncan Howells inmate has obvious claims with her top jockey retaining the ride despite the switch to the grass. SCHOOL RUN may find this trip a little on the sharp side for her, solely due to the switch in surfaces. However, she is much better on the grass and the bay mare should be finishing well.
