Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: SEATTLE OAK(13)
Jockey: Corne ORFFER – Trainer: Brett CRAWFORD

SEATTLE OAK
went off at long odds but still produced a pleasing debut from a wide draw in yielding conditions at Durbanville recently. She made late progress to finish just out of the money, beaten 3.05 lengths by subsequent winner Miss Malbec. That formline was further boosted by the runner-up Midtown Manhattan and 3rd placed finisher Glennie who shed their maiden tags subsequently. The bay filly would have come on with that experience and she should make plenty of progress for her red-hot yard. She is related to some very decent sorts.

Top Bet

Race 3: OH BEHAVE(4)
Jockey: Grant VAN NIEKERK – Trainer: Candice BASS-ROBINSON

OH BEHAVE
has shown fair ability and the equipping of blinkers, coupled with his pole barrier position could make all the difference for the son of Tiger Ridge today. Furthermore, he will be cherry-ripe on his third run back from a break.

Race 6: CAPTAIN COURTEOUS(2)

Jockey: Greg CHEYNE – Trainer: Justin SNAITH

CAPTAIN COURTEOUS
expectedly reeled off a smart hat-trick of victories with an eye-catching finishing burst in a similar handicap over this c & d, four weeks ago. The much improved and infamous gelding, is still on the up and he may have escaped with just another four-pound penalty. He should give another good account of himself.

Race 8: STRIKEITLIKEAMATCH(5)

Jockey: Heavelon VAN DER HOVEN – Trainer: Glen PULLER

STRIKEITLIKEAMATCH benefitted from the layoff and he made good improvement when posting his career best performance over 1100m on this track, two weeks ago. He ran on well for 2nd that day and will be fitter now. The gelding also did the trick for the Glen Puller inmate who should continue to progress.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 2: STARFLASH(5)
Jockey: MJ BYLEVELD – Trainer: Vaughan MARSHALL

This is a most intriguing graduation contest over five furlongs, featuring some very classy types. It is worth mentioning that a few of the principle contenders do prefer an extra furlong but the speedy STARFLASH is fortunately not one of them. The Marshall inmate is out at the weights but he is still improving and this contest could be run to suit him. He beat lesser rivals over this track & trip recently but did shoulder a big mass and kept going well at the wire. The son of Pathfork will be cherry-ripe on his peak showing and he is capable of upsetting his more fancied rivals.
