International Racing - Sunday 6 September 2020

Neil Morrice brings us all of his best bets and tips from Sunday’s racing coming your way from Chelmsford City, Hamilton Park, and Plumpton.

CHELMSFORD CITY

 Race 1 No7 QAASID (Nap)

Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute – Jockey: Jim Crowley

Collinsbay sets the standard on public form available to
bettors in this novice stakes, but one that could bustle him up is QAASID. The
Awtaad colt was easy to back and clueless on his Kempton introduction last
month, but judging by his subsequent work at home he’s learned plenty and has a
good draw close to the rail and alongside his rival.

Race 2 No1 HARRY’S BAR

Trainer: James Fanshawe – Jockey: Tom Marquand

Given his liking for this course, HARRY’S BAR is more than
capable of taking out this handicap under top weight. He’s scored on two of his
four visits, including at the end of last month at the same level (Class 2).
His cause is also aided by the presence of Marquand in the saddle, as that
jockey is enjoying a bountiful run of form.

HAMILTON PARK

Race 3 No3 IMRAHOR (Nap)

Trainer: Hugo Palmer – Jockey: Ben Curtis

IMRAHOR deserves a change of luck following two near-misses in as many career starts, and has travelled a long way to achieve it. The Kingman colt is out of a half-sister to a Group 3 winner, and although off since June is strongly fancied to take advantage of this gilt-edged opportunity.

Race 6 No6 LIBERTY POWER (Each Way)

Handicap debutant LIBERTY POWER hails from a yard in excellent form and takes the eye as the least experienced runner in this second division of the nine furlong handicap. The son of 2,000 Guineas hero Makfi hasn’t shown much in maiden and novice company, but given his high profile connections and the application of a tongue-tie will surely improve now going down this route.

PLUMPTON

Race 3 No6 CHERRY COLA (Nap)

Trainer: Sheena West – Jockey: Joshua Moore

This stable did us a favour with Zoltan Varga last weekend and can now deliver with another cast off from the Channon yard in CHERRY COLA. The Sixties Icon filly shaped encouragingly when third on hurdles debut at Doncaster just before lockdown, an experience that proved highly educational. She’s schooled well and is fit and fancied for this return.

Race 5 No9 SIXTIES SECRET (Each Way)

Trainer: Sheena West – Jockey: N Houlihan

It’s two years since SIXTIES SECRET posted her only success over jumps which was at this course. However, she troubled the judge more times than not in similar contests last season and in spite of coming off a nine month absence can again get into the money in this competitive affair.
