Race 4: JAMESON GIRL(14)
Jockey: Gavin LERENA – Trainer: Candice DAWSON
This is a tricky contest despite the betting market suggesting otherwise as the principle contenders aren’t favourably drawn. They have the credentials though and JAMESON GIRL is above-average. She had a fair debut at long-odds in a big field over this c & d and then made smart improvement when narrowly beaten into 2nd by subsequent winner Pipkin, four weeks ago. She was facing male rivals in that latest effort and is back against her own sex today. The bay filly should continue to progress and she merits healthy respect with Gavin Lerena retaining the ride.

Race 6: NOTHER RUSSIA(4)

Jockey: Craig ZACKEY – Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

NOTHER RUSSIA
showed lots of promise earlier this year but may have suffered a setback as she returns from a 35 week absence. The well-related daughter of Tiger Ridge has a smart turn of foot and she comes here searching for a hat-trick of wins. She holds a good c & d record.

Race 10: LA ROQUETTE(5)

Jockey: Marco VAN RENSBURG – Trainer: Stanley FERREIRA

LA ROQUETTE
was heavily supported into favouritism when she skated clear of her maiden rivals to win her debut over five furlongs on this course, four weeks ago. The daughter of Var is obviously highly rated and she should have plenty more to offer. The extra furlong will be right up her alley and she could be worth following.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 8: KING GERARD(12)

Jockey: Mpumelelo MJOKA – Trainer: Grant MAROUN

This is another very difficult low-key handicap where caution must be exercised. The galloping five year old KING GERARD is the narrow first selection, courtesy of his improved recent form. He seems to be at his level-best up to seven furlongs but is the likely dictator in this line-up and the 4kgs apprentice claim will help his cause.
