There’s a big clash in Sydney this Thursday with the fourth-placed Roosters playing host to the seventh-placed Raiders. The Roosters are looking to close in on the top two sides while the Raiders will be looking to throw themselves right into the play-off berths.

The Roosters had a great time of it in Round 9 where they hammered the Queensland Cowboys 16-42 to claim their sixth victory of the season.
This weekend’s hosts have racked up some big wins before last weekend’s drubbing of the Cowboys and head into this one having scored a staggering 268 points, which is by far and away the highest points return in the tournament.
Roosters fans will be even happier when they see how few points their side has scored, with the Sydney outfit only letting in 112 points in their nine games which sees them again top the pops in the points conceded charts.
Raiders
The Raiders also endured a far less fruitful Round 9 as they went down 14-20 to the Melbourne Storm. This was their fifth defeat of the season and their third in their past four fixtures.
The Raiders have a rather poor recent record against the Roosters having lost the last three fixtures between the two sides. Two of the aforementioned losses were by six points while the other was by four points.
Verdict: Roosters
I don’t think the Roosters will have too many problems putting their opponents to bed as they are a team in form and the Raiders are a side on the slide. I would back the away side on a plus handicap in excess of eight points, however.
