The two sides square off in their CAF Champions League semi-final first leg at the Stade Olympique Hammadi Agrebi on Saturday.

Tunis overcame Ivory Coast side ASEC Mimosas on penalties in their quarter-final clash after playing out two goalless draws, while Sundowns also needed penalties in their previous clash, to see off Tanzanian side Young Africans after no goals were scored in their two-legged tie.

Speaking ahead of the weekend’s game, Cardoso explained they they intend to put up a fight and secure their place in the final ahead of their South African counterparts – despite recently dropping points in their domestic campaign, in a 1-1 draw with Monastir.

The head coach was reported by iDiski Times to have said: “We will correct our mistakes [from Monastir] as part of our preparation for this match.

“The technical staff is already hard at work and we will be ready on D-Day.

“I’m confident that we have the resources to achieve great things. We need to stay focussed, stay together and give our best in every game.

“If we do that we will be difficult to stop.”
