Kaizer Chiefs Youngster Career over after Car Crash

Soccer Players celebrate a goal

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Wiseman Meyiwa will never play football again following a car crash in November.

The 19-year-old has been in hospital since the car accident and has sustained severe spinal damage, leaving him a paraplegic.

“Disability is something that is beyond anyone’s control,” said Amakhosi manager Bobby Motaung in a press conference on Thursday.

“We urge respect and medical, mental, psychological and emotional support for the player in this difficult time. It’s not a pity situation, but a realistic situation. The family as a whole also needs support from everyone in the fraternity.

“Today we had a good celebration day with him. His life is still going on, it’s just a career-ending moment for him.”

Meyiwa – who will be released from hospital next week – made his debut for Chiefs in September 2017 against Cape Town City, punctuating it with a goal.
