AmaZulu who eliminated Sekhukhune United in the last 16 of the competition to book themselves a spot in the last eight will host the defending champions Pirates in what promises to be an exciting match.

Usuthu have been struggling to beat the Sea Robbers in the past few seasons and the last they defeated the Soweto giants was during the 2013/14 season away from home by 1-0.

As Martin’s men are gearing up for the game, the Spanish tactician is well aware that his team has had underwhelming results against Jose Riviero’s side.

Talking at the Nedbank Cup media press in Durban Cijimpi has revealed that it’s going to be a relief for the Durban side to beat Pirates.

“It’s going to be a relief and that’s the fact. For the last 13 years, AmaZulu were not capable to beat Orlando Pirates, we are talking about 35 or even more games,” said Martin.

“That speaks for itself knowing the history of few wins and many defeats for AmaZulu.

“This season we were able to get a draw against them (Pirates) let’s see what happens on Saturday,” he added.

“As I said the statistics are there to be broken and so far we are making history by reaching this quarter-final.

“Because that didn’t happen for us in 12 years, we have not beaten them in 13 years.

“So we will try to break that history on Saturday, that is the idea and it’s an ambition that we have,” he concluded.

Should AmaZulu fail to get a victory over the Buccaneers they will still have a chance to try and continue with their ambition to beat them as they will travel to Orlando Stadium to play Ezimnyama in the DStv Premiership clash on 20 April.
