NEWS: ‘We are not Golden Arrows’ – AmaZulu FC’s Ben Motshwari to Orlando Pirates ahead of Nedbank Cup

If Orlando Pirates thought their recent emphatic victory against Golden Arrows would send shivers to their remaining opponents, it has not landed as AmaZulu FC midfielder Ben Motshwari says they are not shaken.

If Orlando Pirates thought their recent emphatic victory against Golden Arrows would send shivers to their remaining opponents, it has not landed as AmaZulu FC midfielder Ben Motshwari says they are not shaken.

Motshwari’s Usuthu host Pirates in a Nedbank Cup quarterfinal at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday at 18:00.

AmaZulu will be the first side to face coach Jose Riveiro’s Sea Robbers after they dismantled Abafana Bes’thende by 7-1 in a DStv Premiership match this previous weekend.

In-form Pirates forward Tshegofatso Mabasa ran riot against Usuthu’s neighbours, scoring a hattrick.

At the same time, fellow stars Kabelo Dlamini, Relebohile Mofokeng and Patrick Maswanganyi appeared to be in the best mood.

The performance has added spice ahead of their trip to Durban for the Cup game as fans anticipate the Soweto giants to carry out another ruthless killing.

But Motshwari, a former Pirates man, appeared to be not shaken during the team’s training session on Thursday.

“It also goes with the approach you know, (and) we are not Golden Arrows,” Motshwari told media in Durban.

“I think they (Arrows) had a different game plan when they approached that match, I don’t know what they were doing hence they were hammered by (7-1).

“For us, it’s going to be a different ball game altogether and we are cautious. Yes, they scored seven goals. Hopefully, they finished those goals against Golden Arrows.”

Motshwari has promised Pirates a tough time as Usuthu are determined to book their spot in the next round with a wish to go all the way in the tournament.

“Coming here is not going to be easy for them,” Motshwari said.

“We are going to give them a tough time and I think we do have the quality players that can play football and that can go pound for pound with them.

“Yes, they are a big team, and we respect them, but this is football and anything can happen.”

AmaZulu haven’t been doing well in the league as they are in position 12 on the DStv Premiership log table with 28 points from 23 matches.

But they will be buoyed by the fact that they returned to winning ways in the league by beating Cape Town City 1-0 on Sunday.
