NEWS: ‘Playing TS Galaxy is torture, it is something I don’t enjoy’ – Rulani Mokwena expresses disappointment in post-match chaos

The tie between TS Galaxy and Mamelodi Sundowns had all the ingredients that cook up a fierce rivalry, and maybe a boxing ring and two sets of gloves would have been a prudent addition to help Rulani Mokwena and Sead Ramovic settle their differences.

Mokwena and Ramovic have not been seeing eye-to-eye since their feud was instigated by the Galaxy head coach, who revealed details of a telephonic conversation between the two, to which Mokwena responded by labelling his counterpart as an attention seeker.

It has been a whirlpool of emotions and a war of words ever since and the Mbombela Stadium was the grass that suffered when the two teams erupted into chaotic scenes after the game.

Mokwena branded the 1-1 DStv Premiership draw as the worst game he has ever been involved in and went on to explain why playing Galaxy has been somewhat of a nightmare as the sides met three times across all competition this season.

“I am not involved in football for these types of matches, so I don’t want to talk too much about the match. Tashreeq Matthews and Siyabonga Mabena’s incidents were clear penalties,” said Mokwena.

“There are so many fouls that went against us. Marcelo Allende got stamped on his hand and then he got a yellow card.

“They then scored and then the whole bench just humped in our faces and showed so much disrespect. I don’t like that, I am not involved in football for that, sorry.

“I love football for friendship, for good memories, and for the purity of the game and the joy that it brings to people. Playing TS Galaxy at the moment is torture. It is something I don’t enjoy at the moment.

“It was a difficult game for my players to play. It was very tough emotionally and physically but they dug deep and showed incredible mentality,” Mokwena concluded.
