The former Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs defender Maphehlele believes that the Spaniard tactician will lead the Durban-based side to succusses and pledges the club to give him time.

The 43-year-old mentor was appointed as the head coach of AmaZulu at the start of the current campaign taking over from Ayanda Dlamini who was the interim coach.

Usuthu is on the 11th spot on the DStv Premiership table with 24 points in 20 games under the leadership of former Real Madrid assistant manager.

Cijimpi has only managed to collect nine wins in 25 matches across all competitions and has led AmaZulu to the Carling Knockout semifinals while his side will face Orlando Pirates in the quarter-finals of the Nedbank Cup.

Speaking at the recent PSL and Multichoice Player Transition Programme graduation the 34-year-old defender admitted that his side has been lacking consistency but is confident that coach Martin is the right man for the club.

“One thing that is derailing us is the consistency at AmaZulu and it’s not easy,” said Mphahlele.

“Pablo just came in, this is his first season and  for me, he has done so much to get us out of the position we were in psychologically.”

“We’ve got a way of playing now, we got a structure and football takes time it’s not just a toss of a coin and then things are good,” former Bafana defender explained.

“I just hope they give him a little bit of time to work on the team, support him, and eventually the results will come.”

“We have been inconsistent, we struggled to win games but it’s something that we positive will change in the future,” he concluded.

Usuthu will travel to Mbombela stadium on Saturday to face nine-place TS Galaxy in the DStv Premiership clash.

Kick-off is at 17:30.
