International Racing: Monday 11 May 2020 – Murwillumbah

A small seven-race programme is scheduled for Murwillumbah on Monday. It is a very competitive card, but there is some nice value in a few races and money can be made. The best bet comes in Race 2 in the form of FLYING EUROS who was touched off in his last two starts. The manner in which he finished off his last race suggests he will be at home over today’s distance. He should get rewarded for consistency today.

Race 1
BORLOTTI was an impressive winner on debut over this
type of distance at Grafton. He raced from a mid-field position that day and
drew off well at the finish. The son of Spill The Beans would have come on from
the run and he could be anything. Raymond Spokes retains the ride and the pair
have a good chance of remaining unbeaten this afternoon. VOODOO CROWN is a filly taking on the boys. She too caught the eye when winning on
debut. She was given a well-deserved 18-week break since that outing, during
which time she would have strengthened up. She looks to have class about her
and should be the one to throw out the biggest challenge to the top selection.
Race 2
FLYING EUROS is the best bet on today’s programme. He was just touched off in his last start over 1420m at Grafton. The manner
in which he finished off his race that day was encouraging. It must be noted
that the form of that race has been franked. Jockey Raymond Spokes knows the
son of Eurozone well and the pair should find themselves in the winner’s
enclosure today. JET PILOT has finished runner-up in his last four
starts. The slight concern is that he is still a maiden after 25 outings. He
gets the services of a 1.5kg claiming apprentice which should help his cause.
If continuing his good run of form, the son of Jet Spur should be right there
in the run down to the finishing post.
Race 3
This is a
competitive contest and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is SINGLE BLONDE from the Matthew Dunn yard. She produced
three good runs before given an 18-week break. She makes her stable debut this
afternoon and if settled into her new surroundings, she could be the one they
all have to beat. SHY BOY is still a maiden after twelve runs, but he
has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. He has finished
second twice and third once from as many starts on this course. He gets the
services of a 2kg claiming apprentice today and should the top selection fluff her
lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
Race 4
RED ALL DAY is the value bet on today’s card. She showed
good signs of returning to best form in her last start over 1450m at Kempsey.
She chased solidly all the way to the line that day, but the winner was too
good. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. If
confirming her recent improvement, she has a good chance of causing an upset in
this line-up. DAUNTING WARRIOR ran a good race when finishing second over a
similar distance in his last start at Lismore. He has finished second four
times from eight attempts over this trip. Apprentice Cejay Graham retains the
ride this afternoon and the pair merit healthy respect.
Race 5
ANNIE ETHYL got back to winning ways in her last start
over this distance at Grafton. She is having a good season thus far having won
once, finishing second twice and third once from five outings. The daughter of
Canford Cliffs is having her peak run this afternoon and there should be more
to come. AMIRYKAL produced a fair post maiden run over the
minimum trip at Grafton, five weeks ago. She should have finished closer to the
winner that day as she had to check at the 100m mark. It must be noted that
four horses from that form line have come out and won since. With a bit of luck
in running, she should be the one to throw out the biggest challenge to the top
selection.
Race 6
ANTILIA was a tad disappointing in her last start
over seven furlongs at Grafton. She produced some good form prior to that
outing and is a winner of her only attempt over this course and distance. The
daughter of Not A Single Doubt has drawn pole position this afternoon and on
best form shown, she should be the one they all have beat. EVOPEX has finished runner-up in his last two starts. He has a good record over
this distance having won three times, finishing second three times and third
twice from thirteen outings. He makes his course debut this afternoon and if
suited to the track, he should be right there in the run down to the finishing
post.
Race 7
TRIPLE THE FUN is lightly raced having had just the three
runs to date. She followed her maiden win on this course with a good effort
when finishing second over 1106m at Grafton. The daughter of Snitzel is having
her peak run this afternoon and should be cherry-ripe. She looks to have class
about her and may take a power of beating. SUGAR BABY got back to
winning ways in her last start over this distance at Grafton. The manner in
which she won that day was encouraging as she raced four wide around the turn
and managed to hold off all challengers in the straight. 1.5kg claiming
apprentice Qin Yong retains the ride this afternoon and the pair merit healthy
respect.
