CAPTAIN MAROONED has obvious issues but he has shown decent ability and could be a major force in this ordinary field. He has gate speed to overcome his wide draw and the form of his last start has worked out really well with the runner-up Furiosa winning twice subsequently. Furthermore, he gets the red hot services of former champion jockey Gavin Lerena.

DETONATION is still improving and he has shown top class form on this tight circuit. He seems over his recent issues and his last victory on this track over ten furlongs was impressive, considering it was his second outing inside three weeks. The Dynasty gelding was handed a hefty seven pound penalty but he is certainly on the up and has no issues with this extra distance. He should handle the rise in class on his peak showing.

LADIES CLUB flopped in back-to-back runs at the Vaal recently but the track specialist is an entirely different proposition on this tight circuit and her record proves it. She had some useful form before those last two outings and the chestnut mare can bounce back to that from the best draw today. Red-hot top jockey Gavin Lerena takes the ride.
